Everest Basecamp Gokyo Trek - 2010 Views from Namche Bazaar (sherpa museum)
first view of Mt. Everest from Namche Bazaar - Everest Base Camp Trek - Part 2
We were walking along Dudh Kosi River, crossed this small waterfall.
Today is a big day as we’re going to climb more than 800 meters to an altitude of 3.440 meters.
Our final destination for the day will be Namche Bazaar, the biggest town in Khumbu Valley; one can say it’s the capital of Khumbu Valley.
We will be in Namche for two nights to acclimatize.
We officially enter Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha is the Nepali name for Everest); this is a check point where all Trek leader need to register their members. Here one can find people of all nationals .
We stopped to grab lunch in the town of Jorsale. The sun was shining down on us as we sat outside.
After lunch, we mentally prepared our self for the final climb to Namcahe.
But before starting our final climb, we reach the Khumbu River.
This is the river coming down from the Khumbu Glacier, which streams down the Khumbu Glacier, face of Everest.
The water is incredibly blue and I stood still for a while to absorb the moment,
From far we could see the suspension bridge, there were two (Hillary suspension bridge)
The lower one is the old one and not in use anymore, the upper one is the one we are on to cross the Khumbu River.
This bridge in particular was a bit shaky as it was high up and there was wind, it was scary but felt fun.
Immediately after crossing this bridge, we started our final ascent to Namche Bazaar, the hardest part of today’s hike.
All of a sudden, there’s a gathering of people on a small platform. This turns out to be Everest View Point; this is the first place on the trek where you can see Mount Everest between the pine trees.
And after some intense climbing we reached a check post. After necessary paperwork, we started walking towards the Namche.
Namche is built in the shape of an amphitheater and situated in a very steep valley. That made us realise there is one last steep climb to climb to our hotel.
We reached our hotel.
After checking our room, we were excited that we got to stay here for two nights. It was a long tiring day; we meet at the dinning hall for tea and to discuss the next day Plan.
Rest day for acclimatization.
Today, as part of the acclimatization, we were hiking up to Khumjung 3810, it’s around 2 hrs trek
Khumjung is known to trekker for the amazing view it has to offer of the whole range. We got excellent views of the all most all peaks, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Amadablam and Thamserku being amongst the most prominent as they stand straight ahead.
We returned back to Namche and went to visit mt. Everest documentation centre and Sherpa culture Museum which was on the way.
Later in the evening we went to visit the market to celebrate the trek till now with hot chocolate at Sherpa Barista.

Namche Bazaar Nepal Treks and Mount Everest Tours
Namche Bazaar
@
Namche Bazaar is a village in Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone of north-eastern Nepal. And is the main trading center for the Khumbu region.
It is very popular with trekkers in the Khumbu region and is the main stay over for altitude acclimatization for those on various high level treks. At 3,500 meters, it is advisable to spend at least a night in the village to acclimatize.
It is also the gateway to the high Himalaya for those visiting base camp or climbing Mount Everest.
The village is located on crescent shaped mountain slopes that offer stunning views of the mountains. Traditionally the village was a trading post, with locals bartering yak cheese and butter for agricultural goods grown at lower altitudes. However, after the conquest of Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's in 1953, the small sleepy village changed forever as the number of visitors steadily rose.
Namche is a seven hour journey from the airstrip at Lukla this is usually done over two days with an acclimatization stop at Phakding .
Namche Bazaar has prospered from the tourist trade and according to government statistics it is the wealthiest district in Nepal. It has lots of accommodation of different types, stores, banks and a post office as well as a number of cafés catering to the needs of visitors. There are also museums, a stupa and a Buddhist monastery.
The best time to visit the Namche Bazaar is from mid-September to mid-November when it is still not too cold and the air is at its most clear giving crystal clear views of the surrounding mountains.
Spring time is also a good time to visit Namche, all though the mountain views are not as clear as the best time, the hedgerows and wild flowers are in full bloom in April and May.
As the name of the village suggests, Namche Bazaar has a market and every Saturday morning, folk from the surrounding valleys spread out their wares on land above the main path into town. The market is certainly worth wandering around and is a good place to get some souvenir shots or video of Khumbu life.
In June the Dumjee Festival is held, which celebrates the achievements of a highly respected Sherpa lama. The main celebration is held at the Namche monastery and includes hilarious lama dances and traditional Sherpa dances.
Easy places to visit from Namche Bazaar are Khumjung which is a good one hour walk. This is where you will find the Hilary hospital and school and also the Yeti skull in the monastery.
Tengboche is a five to six hour hike and the first part of the trek is pretty flat, but there is a steep and long hill up to the monastery.
Thame is around a three hour walk and is mostly flat after the climb out of Namche Bazaar.

Scenes From Namche Bazaar
Located at 11,305 feet in the Himalaya of Nepal, Namche Bazaar is one of the more popular, and famous, stop overs for trekkers heading to the Khumbu Valley to visit Everest or one of the many other peaks in the region.
Namche is the largest village in the Khumbu and is buit right on the side of a mountain, making it a challenge to get to, but worth the trek.

Real Story of Climbing Sherpa in Nepal- Everest Expeditions Nepal
he name ' Mount Everest' was named when Sir George Everest, the surveyor general of India from scaled the peak in1856. It was called Peak XV until before 1856. The height measurement of the peak was done through the Great Trigonometrically Survey in 1850. Nepali name of the Mt. Everest is 'Sagarmatha', meaning Sky Mother. However, the Tibetan people love to call it 'Chomolungma', which refer to Mother Goddess of the Country.
There is a great controversy regarding the exact height of Mount Everest. Andrew Waugh, the successor of George Everest had given its height 29,002ft (8842m. Later, this height was increased to 29,028ft (8,848m) which is the universally accepted altitude. In 1999, the Boston Museum of Science GPS system attached to Bishop's Ledge, the outcrop just below the summit, suggested the height no more than 8,830m (28,970ft). Similarly, the National Geographic Society announced that the correct height of the Everest was 8,850m (29,035ft). Let the geologists go on exploring the actual height of the Everest; it is anyhow, the highest mountain in the world. It is reported that the mountain is rising a few millimeters each year due to geological forces.
