Landing at Unst airfield Shetland, May 2009 in a PA 28
Unst (disused) airfield is on the very northern tip of the Shteland Islands and was the target of our 5-day adventure in G-BMIW a group-owned PA28 Archer based at Shoreham. The full story will appear in UK's Pilot Magazine (April 2010 edition - in the shops from mid March).
In this short video Andy is at the controls, filmed by Paul who has already done his landing, after flying from Sumburgh, at this very isolated corner of the UK. Many thanks to the Shetland Islands Council who let us visit - we were the first plane to land there for five months. The three pilots were Andy, John and Paul.

Mirrie Dancers - West Sandwick, Shetland
This project, conceived by artists Nayan Kulkarni and Roxane Permar, was commissioned by Shetland Arts over the winter of 2009-10. It offered an opportunity for people to help create dynamic light works for ten temporary illuminations in Voe, Haroldswick, Yell, Northmavine, Tingwall, Reawick, Bressay, Nesbister, Dunrossness and Snarravoe, Unst. Later all of these works will become part of the exterior illuminations for Mareel, Shetland's new music, cinema and education venue. Much more information about the project is available on the Mirrie Dancers website.
Austin Taylor Photography was appointed Illuminations Photographer for the project and we created this timelapse video on one of our visits to this site. More video or timelapse of other sites will be added to this channel later.
'Mirrie Dancers' is the Shetland term for the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis.
