Dolpa, Phoksundo National Park l Nepal
The region is about 300kn north-west of Kathmandu, Nepal, and almost the entire region is within the very large Shey Phoksundo National Park.
Most treks require a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then on to one of the few landing strips serving the region. Most treks start and finish at the Jupal airstrip in southern, or lower Dolpo. But the airstrip at Jomson to the east can be another entry or departure point.

DUDHKUNDA - Winter Wonderland, HOLY Trekking in Lower SOLU
If you love snow and the mountains, you'll love this one. Tan and Phet were in Ktm on April 6 and we had to leave by April 8. It was raining all over Kathmandu.
Our trip to Lower Solu's Holy Dudhkunda Lake felt scripted, as the hope of a clear weather was grim when we left Kathmandu. To our surprise, the weather opened up when we were in Salleri. The next couple of days, when we were trekking, the weather was gloomy again. But snowfall was a bonus for us. And the day we went to Dudhkunda, there wasn't a single trace of clouds in the sky.
Only a few destinations are reachable so easily in Nepal that can take you directly to the base of the mountains. And a lake with such beauty and religious significance, its surprising how its still so underrated. Hope you make your plans to visit this place soon!
These contacts will be useful if you plan to visit Dudhkunda.

SUMMARY
=======
The protected areas of Nepal cover mainly forested land and are located at various altitudes in the Terai, in the foothills of the Himalayas and in the mountains, thus encompassing a multitude of landscapes and preserving a vast biodiversity in the Palearctic and Indomalayan ecozones.
Nepal covers 147,181 km2 (56,827 sq mi) in the central part of the Himalayas. Altitudes range from 67 m (220 ft) in the south-eastern Terai to 8,848 m (29,029 ft) at Sagarmatha within a short horizontal span. This extreme altitudinal gradient has resulted in 11 bio-climatic zones ranging from lower tropical below 500 m (1,600 ft) to nival above 5,000 m (16,000 ft) in the High Himalayas, encompassing nine terrestrial ecoregions with 36 vegetation types. Botanists recorded 1,120 species of non-flowering plants and 5,160 species of flowering plants. Nepal ranks 10th in terms of richest flowering plant diversity in Asia. Zoologists recorded 181 mammal species, 844 bird species, 100 reptile species, 43 amphibian species, 185 freshwater fish species, and 635 butterfly species. In recognition of the magnitude of biodiversity the Government of Nepal has established a network of 20 protected areas since 1973, consisting of ten national parks, three wildlife reserves, six conservation areas and one hunting reserve.
In 2017, the Shuklaphanta and Parsa Wildlife Reserves were upgraded to National Parks.Additionally, nine Ramsar sites were declared between 1988 and 2008.

Gufapokhari, Trekking in East Nepal!
A teaser from our East Nepal Trek, 2016!
A memorable journey to Guphapokhari and around eastern Nepal. Intially, we planned to trek Guphapokhari-Sabhapokhari-Bhedetar but had to cancel Sabhapokhari due to many reasons.
Nonetheless, the trek turned out epic and ended with a detour to the newly famous Namaste waterfall and rafting at Tamor River (ranked 3rd in rapids, only after Marshyangdi and Bhotekoshi).
Stay tuned for full videos from the trek.

Stunning Tilicho Lake । मनमोहक तिलिचो ताल
Situated at 4,919 m in Manang district of Nepal, Tilicho lake is one of the highest lakes in the world. Getting there can be difficult due to high altitude, freezing cold and thin air, but the deep azure blue colour of the lake will dazzle you once you get there.

Gosaikunda Lake, Nepal HD गोसाइँकुण्ड ताल
Gosaikunda Lake, Nepal HD गोसाइँकुण्ड ताल
Gosaikunda (गोसाइँकुण्ड), also spelled Gosainkunda and Gosain Kunda is an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in Nepal's Langtang National Park, located at an altitude of 4,380 m (14,370 ft) in the Rasuwa District with a surface of 13.8 ha (34 acres). Together with associated lakes, the Gosaikunda Lake complex is 1,030 ha (4.0 sq mi) in size and has been designated a Ramsar site on 29 September 2007.
The lake melts and sips down to form the Trishuli River and remains frozen for six months in winter October to June. There are 108 lakes in this area, small to medium in size. The challenging Lauribina La at an altitude of 4,610 m (15,120 ft) is on its outskirts.
Tourism and trekking
Gosaikunda is a significant place of interest on the Dhunche-Helambu trekking route. This trek adjoins the famous Langtang Valley trek in the same district. Both treks can be combined. Basic accommodation is quite easily available. Tea houses offer a variety of food and snacks.
The trek to Gosaikunda starts in Dhunche Village or Syabru Besi in the Langtang Himal, or in Sundarijal in the Kathmandu Valley. When starting from Dhunche, the first day involves a long steady climb to reach Chandan Bari at an altitude of about 3,200 m (10,500 ft). Laurebinayak at about 3,700 m (12,100 ft) can be reached on the second day. At this point, some trekkers choose to climb ahead to Gosaikunda, though altitude sickness is a concern as the ascent is rather steep. Many trekkers choose to stay at Laurebinayak, which also provides sunset and sunrise views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal. The descent from Gosaikund to Sundarijal (सुन्दरीजल) takes about four days and involves a short climb to Laurebina La at 4,610 m (15,120 ft), a rapid descent to Phedi and onwards to Ghopte. Depending on pace, there are options to stay at Thadepati, Mangengoth, Kutumsang and at many villages farther downhill. The trails are well marked, except between Ghopte and Thadepati.
