Shichirimihama Beach in Mie pref. - Japan's Longest Beach of Pebbles - Japan Trip
Shichirimihama beach is the longest beach of pebbles in Japan, which is about 22 km or 14 mile long. The beach belongs to Yoshino-Kumano National Park.
There are some tourist spots such as Onigajo Seashore Promenade, Shishiiwa Lion-Shaped Rock and the famous Hananoiwaya Shrine.
The beach itself has nothing but round pebbles and the sea. But I suppose the vast view of the sea and sky will make you feel something.
When you come to around this area, why don't you step down on the beach and feel the sea and sky?
Click the below to watch my video, Onigajo.
Thanks.

Japan Trip: History, Rocks, Shrines and the Beach in Kumano City, Wakayama 14
Japan Trip: History, Rocks, Shrines and the Beach in Kumano City, Wakayama 14
Located 20 kilometers away from the Wakayama border, Kumano City is actually located in Mie Prefecture. Visitors may think Kumano City is the city side of the spiritual side of the Kumano region. However, Kumano City is not a big city, the population is only 20,000. However, it is well-known for its trails, rock formations and shrine.
Kumano City is located along the former Iseji pilgrimage route, the route which connected Kumano shrines with Ise Grand Shrine. However, currently only the isolated sections of the route have been preserved. Among them is the Matsumoto Pass trail in Kumano City. The preserved section of the trail is one kilometer long with the top elevation reaching about 100 meters.
Kumano City is known for unique rock formations along its coastline. A supposed dwelling of the demons is the Onigajo Rock (“oni” translates to demon). The Shishi Rock resembles a lion looking out to sea (“shishi” translates to lion). Both rock formations were named by their appearance.
About a kilometer south of Kumano's city center stands Hana no Iwaya Shrine. It is believed the grave of Izanami is located within this ancient shrine. Izanami is the deity who created the earth together with her husband Izanagi. This shrine’s foundation is considered to be older than even that of the three Kumano shrines. A unique rope festival is held at the shrine on February 2nd and October 2nd. A thick hemp rope stretches from the top of the cliff to the grove of trees below. During the festival, the rope is replaced. But first, the new rope is stretched along Route 42 and down the coast. At this time, flowers, sacred fans with the Japanese Hinomaru design are attached to the rope.
And within Kumano City is Tategaski, a large rock quay 100 meters high and a circumference of 600 meters. It is believed Emperor Jinmu landed on this rock on his way to conquest the East. Visitors may wish to take a scenic boat ride along the coast in viewing this historic rock.

Amazing 250kg fireworks shell at Kumano City's floating firework finale
The Mie-Prefecture city's annual firework festival took place on August 18 this year, with thousands of visitors squeezing onto every inch of Shichiri Mihama beach, which is covered with large, smooth rocks just perfect for lounging around on.
With more than 10,000 fireworks, boats travelling at full speed across the sea in front of the beach drop the miniature explosives in their wake, only narrowly avoiding the explosions themselves, making Kumano's display one of the most exciting and original there is. The star of the show, however, is the 250kg goliath of a firework that brings the ceremonies to a close, and is detonated on a raft a few hundred metres out to sea.it's Insane
