Shiga Kogen - Japan's Largest Ski Resort with 21 ski areas. Nagano Winter Olympics was held here.
We travelled Free & Easy. Took a 60 mins bus ride from Yudanaka train station. Dropped off at Ichinose (Ichi no-say) Diamond Ski Area. Equipmental rental shop Snow Can has everything that we needed. This includes the hiring of our Lovely Ski Instructor.
It was pre-season, so we almost had the whole ski area to ourselves. The temperature was -10 degrees and most of our iPhones shutdown and refused to take pictures. Fortunately the GoPro worked though the batteries only lasted about 50% of the usual power.

17.03.2019 Our ski trip in Japan year 3!!.
(Day 1)
We went to Ski area called Shiga Kogen. The Ski track called Shiga Kogen Ichinose Family Ski Area.
We stayed at Chalet Shiga Kogen ski resort for 5 nights.
- From Nagano Station we took an Nagaden Shiga Kogen Express bus. You can find the bus parking at Nagano Station east exit.
- The ticket is 2,000 yen / person and you can just buy it from the staff who standing where the bus is parking.
- Once you know which hotel you are going to stay you can show them and they will tell you which bus stop you have to get off (They are speak English).
- The bus took around 1.30 hours to our ski track Shigakogen Ichinose Family Ski Area then we have to walk a bit to the resort.

- ที่สถานนีนากาโน ให้เดินลงไปชั้นล่างสุดของสถานี รถบัสจะจอดอยู่ทางทิศตะวันออกของสถานี เป็นรถบัส Nagaden Shiga Kogen Express
- ถามซื้อตั๋วกับเจ้าหน้าที่ตรงจุดนั้นได้เลยค่ะ ให้บอกเขาว่าไป Shigakogen Ichinose Family Ski Area ชี้ Map ให้เขาดูเลยก็ได้ เราก็ทำแบบนั้น 5555
- ถ้าเพื่อน ๆ พักที่อื่น ก็ดู Map ว่าจุดจอดไหนใกล้โรงแรมเราที่สุด ก็ลงตรงนั้นค่ะ
- รถบัสก็จะไปจอดตามจุดต่าง ๆ ของลานกสีนั้น ๆ นะคะ ส่วนของเราใช้เวลาประมาณ 1.30 ชม. ก็ไปถึงจุดจอดลานสกี Shigakogen Ichinose Family ค่ะ
- ค่าตั๋วคนละ 2,000 เยน
- หาที่นั่งเองได้เลย ไม่ได้มีที่นั่งบอกในตั๋วค่ะ

Shiga Kogen is a highland area with altitudes reaching more than 1,000 meters and is part of the Joshinetsukogen National Park in northern Nagano Prefecture. The area is one of Japan’s leading snow destinations with 18 ski resorts. The snow season at Shiga Kogen is long because of the area’s high elevation and low temperatures, meaning you can be on the slopes until early May. Like other Japanese snow destinations, the area is famous for its hot springs, and you can bathe in the healing waters in the lodging facilities at the eight onsen spots. At the foot of the Shiga Kogen area is Jigokudani Yaen-Koen — more famously known as the Monkey Park where wild monkeys come down from the trees to bathe in the hot water. While the monkeys live across wide swathes of Japan, at the park you can observe them in their adopted habitat.
