Vlog #93 Mikawashima and Arakawa parks
Hi guys ans welcome to a new vlog.
I went to Mikawashima park and Arakawa park since they are super close to each other. I had some dolls with me but I got a bit lazy and didn't take any pictures.
Mikawashima is a rather large park. It has a pond called Swan Pond and another one with turtles. It also has a bicycle area to teach children how to cycle on the road, though, you have to get your cycle there as it is forbidden to bring your own bicycle to the park. They have a play ground area for children there too.
Arakawa park is a lot smaller. It looks to be like it's a place for older guys to come smoking, so many people were smoking there.

109. Bike ride to Tosho-gu Shrine, Toshogu, Sendai, Miyagi, Tohoku, Japan
Bike ride to Tosho-gu Shrine, Toshogu, Sendai, Miyagi, Tohoku, Japan. It's my bicycle trip to Tosho-gu Shrine in Sendai City. I'm almost there. I'm a little tired, because Tosho-gu Shrine lies on the other side of town, and the day is hot, but I'm happy because I wanted to visit this place since few weeks. Even the railway crossing, then about 200 meters and climbing uphill. But it's the finish. As you can see on the trees - the wind is strong, but it soon will change, on my way back I will have it against me again. I reached the top. It was not easy, but I'm on the spot. Bitchu-Kokubunji Temple is located in the Kibi Plain, outside central Okayama City. The Kibi Plain was the center of the Kibi Kingdom, an ancient, powerful clan. Many historical attractions such as such as burial mounds and shrines are located on the plain. The best way to explore this plain is by bicycle as many historic points of interests are scattered throughout the cycling trail.
Bitchu-Kokubunji Temple, a 34 meter tall five story pagoda, was founded in 741. Near the temple is a bicycle shop rental shop where bicycles can be rented or returned.
Alternatively, there is a bus to Soja Station for visitors who do not wish to cycle the route’s last section (approximately 5 kilometers).

This Japanese Train Station Was Built Around A 700 Year Old Tree, And Here’s Why

There’s a train station in the Northeast suburbs of Osaka, Japan, which proves that man and nature can coexist in harmony. Its main feature is a giant camphor tree, stretching out through a hole in the platform. Officials believe that the tree is about 700 years old and its history is full of loving people and a little bit of superstition.
Kayashima station opened right next to the camphor tree in 1910. However, after 60 years the increase in population demanded an expansion of the station and it was approved in 1972. The tree was to be cut down to make room for the new structure. But anyone who tried to cut down the tree was doomed with some sort of unfortunate event. One man who managed to cut down a branch, developed a high fever later that day. Others saw smoke arise from the bottom of the tree.
When locals found out about what was happening with their beloved tree, they were outraged. Tales began to spread about the tree and its deity, so eventually, the officials agreed to update the design of the new platform and incorporate the tree into it. Construction began in 1973 and ended in 1980. To this day the camphor tree is growing there with the support of the local community and there’s even a little shrine to honor its being.

Singer-songwriter Takuro Yoshida has sung of the scenery of boathouses and the meter-long squids coming ashore from fall to winter in one of their songs.

Oki Kokubunji Temple - Tempyo Culture continuing even today (Dogo Island)
This is one of the 'Kokubun-ji' temples built nationwide in the 13th year of Tempyo (741 A.D.) by decree of the Emperor Shomu. The remains of the temporary palace of Emperor Go-Daigo, who was exiled to Oki during the Genko War (1331-1333), still stand today. On April 21st every year is the Oki Kokubun-ji Renge-e-mai (ancient court dance) is held, telling of the glory of Tempyo culture even today.
