The beautiful Adachi Museum of Art, located in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, was founded in the hopes of combining natural garden beauty with artwork to increase interest and appreciation in Japanese art. The founder, Adachi Zenko, created the museum in 1980, utilizing his passion for Japanese art and landscaping.
The award winning garden at Adachi Museum of Art is a sight visitors do not want to miss. Deservingly it has received the best garden award in Japan every since 2003. The flowers, leaves, etc., change according to the season, allowing visitors to enjoy its beauty throughout the year. However, the garden can only be viewed from the museum building.
The art exhibits in the Adachi Museum of Art also change seasonally. The museum is home to nearly 1300 twentieth century paintings and artworks. In addition to rotating collection, the museum has a permanent display of paintings by Yokoyama Taikan. There is also a ceramics exhibit.
Hours: 9:00 to 17:30 (until 17:00 from October to March)
Closed: Opened all Year Round
Admission: 2300 yen (50% off for foreign visitors)
Access Information:
**From Matsue Station, take a train to Yasugi Station. The journey is about 20 minutes and the cost is 410 yen (Japan Rail Pass holders can utilize their Rail Pass here).
From Yasugi Station, board the free shuttle bus to the museum. There is one shuttle bus every hour. The bus ride is about 20 minutes.
**From Okayama, there are limited express trains that stop at Yasugi Station before proceeding to Matsue City.

Umikurasan Ryuun Temple - Shimane - 海藏山 龍雲寺
Located near Hamada city, in the southern part of Shimane prefecture, you will find the beautiful secluded Umikurasan Ryuun Temple. Established 1382 near what was once the Misumi Castle district of Hamada city. The Umikurasan Ryuun Temple was later relocated to its current location in 1441 and is now under the care of a young priest and his wife, Shinjo Nohara. Away from civilisation, the Umikurasan Ryuun Temple is the perfect place for anyone looking for peace as well as anyone interested in gorgeous Japanese temple architecture. Indeed, not only is the Umikurasan Ryuun Temple roof covered by Shimane’s unique to the region and famous orange Sekishu tiles, but its main hall also features a beautiful buddhist representation of a protective dragon on the ceiling.

Matsue Shimane,Japan 島根 松江城のの堀川めぐりは想像以上に屋根が下がる:旅
山陰旅行で城下町松江に行ったので、お城の観光をしてきました。
お城のお堀を小舟でまわる「ぐるっと松江堀川めぐり」がよかったです。
堀にかかっているいくつかの橋をくぐるんですが、中にはとても低い橋の下があります。
そのままくぐるとお客さんは頭を打つので、かがんでくださいとなるわけですが、途中で頭をあげられないように、船の屋根ごと低くされて否応なくかがまされます。
それがちょっと楽しい。
あとは、船頭さんの軽快なおしゃべりでの説明も楽しめます。
いろんなところのこういう小舟で巡るアトラクションに乗りましたが、なんでみんな船頭さんのトークがおもしろいんでしょうねぇ。
堀川めぐりの後は、松江城にのぼります。
さくらがまだ咲いていたのできれいでしたねぇ。
そして、古いお屋敷が並ぶ塩見縄手。
小泉八雲記念館や武家屋敷の見学ができます。
I traveled castle town Matsue in San'in region.
I've been a tourist in Matsue castle.
You can take a boat around the moat of the castle.
It's so much fun.
It passes through some bridges built over the moat.
Some of the bridge is very low bottom .
When we passes the low bridge, a passenger will strike the head under the bridge.
Therefore, the roof of a ship becomes low.
It is because it can not raise we head in the middle.
It is a little fun also.
Explanation by the captain's light chat can also be enjoyed.
After the tour Horikawa, I climbed to Matsue Castle.
Since Sakura was still in bloom, it was beautiful.

Shimane prefecture is located on the southwest side of Japan’s main Honshu Island.
In Shimane, we will visit Izumo Taisha, a big shrine that is famous for its giant sized sacred rope, and then the Matsue, Yasugi, and Miho Areas.

宍道湖のほとりにあり、２階の展望テラスと１階のロビーからの夕日は見事。
そのため春夏は日没３０分後に閉館されると言う配慮もうれしい。
西洋絵画、日本画、版画、工芸、写真、彫刻など幅広い収蔵品は、モネ、シャバンヌ、川合玉堂などの水を題材とした作品が多い。
＜幸せのうさぎ＞
島根県立美術館の湖岸には、縁結びスポットとして有名なとっても可愛らしい「宍道湖うさぎ」がいます。12羽のうさぎのうち、岸から2番目のうさぎに西を向きながら触れると幸運が訪れるんだそうです。しかも宍道湖名物”しじみ”の貝殻をお供えすると、さらに運気がアップするそうです。
