Going to Shimla Railway Station in Complete Snow by Walking on Rly. Tracks [4K]
Going to Shimla by Train is Adventurous, and it becomes more adventurous when Train stops at a halt and Driver says to everyone that train will not go ahead until the further track is cleared. (Because of heavy Snowfall the last night)
This is what happened to me , The train stopped at Taradevi Rly. Sta. and everyone was trying to reach Shimla as early as possible; after sitting at the station for about half an hour, finally I asked the Station master whether the train will go further. He told that it would go but after 4-5 hours. And also told that we could go there by bus, but there would be heavy Traffic Jam, and if we wanted then we could go there by the Tracks (~9 kms up Gradient from Taradevi). So me and my brother decided to go by Tracks. Ending of the video was quick as One Mobile Phone's battery was dead and the other had only about 10-15%. So I saved that to shoot this video that's why I could not record on the whole way.
Lastly that train also arrived at Shimla by a delay of about 5:30 hrs.
Shimla is located at an altitude of 2076 meters. Shimla was the Summer Capital of the British Raj. Today, It is the capital of Himachal Pradesh.
Visitors come here for trekking in Summer. Famous places near Shimla are Chail and Kufri and further on are Narkanda, Kullu, Manali, Lahaul, Rohtang, Jalori Passes. The township of Shimla is picturesque, thickly wooded with pines and cedars.
The Mall, Vice-Regal Lodge, Christ Church, St. Michael's Cathedral and Jakhu Temple are some of the famous landmarks of Shimla. Shimla also has several museums displaying beautiful examples of Kangra art and culture.
Shimla is connected to Kalka by a narrow gauge track built in 1903, consisting of 103 tunnels in about 100 kilometers of the mountainous track.
Northern Railways provides several tourist trains on this section, which include the Shivalik Deluxe Express, Shivalik Queen, Rail Motor Car, etc. The picturesque railway station at Barog provides a beautiful interlude on the way to Shimla from Kalka.
Reservation facilities are available in Kalka, Shimla and Manali. Retiring room facility is also available there.

Shimla Food Walk - Part 1/3 I AMAZING Mandyali Dham (Himachali Thali) + SOFTEST Parati Kulcha
► Subscribe to Delhi Food Walks:
► More Street Food in Himachal:
From Kasauli we drove to Shimla in search of local and popular delicacies. This hill station fascinates every visitor with its terrific outdoors and unique appeal form the British Raj. The Himachal capital is always buzzing with tourists as here, one finds, panoramic views of the snow clad Himalayas, tiny paths along the pine forests, Elizabethan-style architecture and a delectable food culture, all of which makes it resemble a fairy tale settings.
The only and the best way to explore the central part of the town is by walking through the winding paths and stairs leading uphill and downhill. In this delightful gastronomic journey across this pretty town, we were joined by our awesome host Savitoj who walked us through the food scene enthralling us with historical references and tales.
Our first stop was the Indian Coffee House whose ambience takes people back in time and gives them a taste of the timeless beverages and food. Here we tried the coffee, bread toast and Sambar Vada. Food and coffee both were decent but the ambience made it special.
Next we tried an amazingly hot Gulab Jamun from the iconic snack shop Baljees that is local favourite for quick snacks. After this we went to Sharma Chat to taste the unique Parati Kulcha. This spicy and savoury dish was super delectable. Its a must try delicacy in Shimla.
From there we went to Vijay Sweets to have tea along with some of their very famous tea time snacks. The assortment of sweet and savoury snacks was quite interesting especially the Toshe.
Then we tried the Spoonie from the renowned Trishool Bakery that was full of fresh bakery stuffs and eager customers. At last we went on to try the traditional celebratory food from Himachal Pradesh known as the Dham. Its a hearty and nutritious platter consisting of choicest delicacies from across the state that is made with local ingredients. We tried it at a restaurant named Himachali Rasoi. This Dham was specially from the Mandi district. It was indeed a scrumptious spread especially the Rajma Ka Madra.
This culinary sojourn with our genial host Savitoj was truly heartwarming. See you soon at some new destination.

shimla october to january | shimla city tour | Amazing mall road walk | himachal pradesh, India |
Shimla (Hindi:शिमला)
Simla is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is a very popular holiday-retreat during the summer months and is well-known for its Victorian architecture, which is reflected in certain areas of the Mall and The Ridge. It is also a famous holiday spot for honeymoon.
There are quite a few theories regarding the origin of the word Shimla. Locals insist that the name originates from Shyamali Devi, a re-incarnation of the fearsome Goddess Kali.
Shimla has a population of around 145,000. Most of the residents are from the Pahadi community (the natives of Himachal Pradesh), but there is also a sizable minority from Punjab and Sindh, who moved to Shimla during the partition. As a result, the languages spoken in Shimla include Hindi, Punjabi, Pahadi and English which serves as a lingua-franca.
Shimla's cool climate is the precise reason why it is such a popular summer retreat. Located at an altitude of approximately 2200m above sea level, the region has a hilly terrain and is covered by dense evergreen forests. A few visitors choose to visit Shimla during spring or autumn, when the place is less crowded and the views are too spectacular for words.
By train :
The nearest broad gauge head is at Kalka - a four- to seven-hour journey from Delhi. After that, take the mountain train from Kalka to Shimla.
By Road :
It takes only 2 hours from Kalka to Shimla by taxi.
If hiring a private taxi, ensure that the driver has experience driving in hilly regions and is not deprived of sleep.
By plane :
Shimla has its own airport at a place known as Jubbarhatti (IATA code:SLV), 22 km away, a distance which, owing to the difficulties of the mountainous terrain, poor condition of road surfaces, and the increasing traffic congestion, often takes hours to traverse by car from Shimla. The airport has severe limitations imposed both by its elevation at 1,546 metres above sea level and by the shortness of its single runway (1,230 m) which ends in precipice at either end, and it can accommodate only turboprop Dornier aircraft; jets such as Airbus A310, 320s and Boeing 737s can all land at the larger Chandigarh (IATA code:IXC) airport. The Chandigarh Airport, located at a distance of 120 km from Shimla along far better roads and at an elevation of only 308 metres above sea level, offers far better flight options. Major airlines including Indian , Jet Airways and Air Deccan operate flights to Delhi, Jammu, and Mumbai. Most of the flights to Mumbai require a stop-over in Delhi. Tip, confirm the flights till the very last moment, bad weather often delays flights during the winter fog.
After landing at the airport, take a pre-paid taxi to minimize hassle. Chandigarh is a good four-hour drive away, so stop for a bite on the Kalka-Shimla highway.
See
• The Mall: The Mall is the main shopping centre of Shimla. This shopping centre has a good number of banks, restaurants, post offices, clubs, bars and tourists offices. There is a famous theatre of Shimla called Gaiety Theatre. The Mall is also the main meeting place for the people of Shimla.
• Jakhu Temple, Jakhu Hill. Open every day. Offers spectacular views of the mountains from its location above the town. According to the epic Ramayana, the monkey god Hanuman rested here during his journey to the Himalayan mountains. The climb up is a physically demanding one-hour walk. However, you can drive up the hill - a 4WD is recommended. The temple and hill side is populated with very aggressive and cunning monkeys. Be extremely careful with your camera, glasses, bag and (especially) food. Entry free, donations welcome (Sticks for warding off the monkeys can be rented at the entrance to the temple for Rs 5).
• Jakhoo Hill, Located at an altitude of 2,445m, Jakhoo Hill, Shimla's highest point, is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Shimla. From the peak of the hill, one can have a panoramic view of the Shimla town and its surroundings. The landscape all around is a feast to one’s eyes. At the top is an old Hanuman temple.
Dorje Drag Monastery, Sarasvati Garden Estate, Kusmuti. A monastery in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, also known as Thubten Evam Dorje Drag. Entry free, donations welcome.
The Ridge, Jakhu Hill (North of The Mall). Built at the top of the town at 2230m, The Ridge is the center of Shimla's cultural and social life - an excellent place to view the surrounding mountains.

Snowfall in Shimla | Chandigarh to Shimla | Cinematic Film | Vlog - January 2019
#ShimlaRoadTrip #ShimlaSnowfall #Shimla #Vlog
Presenting you with a short movie of Snowfall in Shima. I made a short road trip from Chandigarh to Shimla on Jan 6 2019. I was following the weather forecast and was very keen on covering the snowfall in Shimla.
Though my destination was Narkanda initially. But, as I reached Kufri, I was stuck due to traffic jam and obviously because of the snowfall. Though I still tried my best to cover whatever I could. I also tried some drone shots of the snowfall.
I hope you enjoy the short cinematic movie on Snowfall in Shimla.
Thank you again for watching and do let me know if you have any suggestions or comments. I take your advice very seriously and try to improve my videos.

► More Street Food in Himachal:
After exploring the local food scene at The Mall Road and the Middle bazaar, we descended to the Lower bazaar to try some of the popular local delicacies. With crowded lanes lined with shops selling everything from wooden items, winter clothes to mobile phones and vegetables, this buzzing marketplace, is the main shopping destination for the visitors, locals and villagers.
Here at Lower Bazaar, one can buy affordable and inexpensive daily products. Hence the shopping scenario here is less sophisticated than its upper counterpart for it was meant to cater to the needs of the common public. It also has a huge sabzi mandi, a delightful place full of fresh fruits and veggies. The street food culture here is a mix of traditional delicacies and popular fast food influences. Hence along with Savitoj we are on a gastronomic joyride at this part of the town. Don't miss out on the end where the humble culinary experience transcends into a humane experience.
We began our journey from the sabzi mandi or the vegetable market. The crowded narrow lanes were lined with shops selling fragrant fruits and fresh vegetables. Here we spotted the lingdu or the Fiddlehead greens, a quintessentially local vegetable-essentially a fern- that is commonly consumed in this region.
We then arrived at the 117 years old sweet shop Meher Chand and Bros whose legacy is a testimony of the bygone era when colonial rule was at its peak. It is still one of the most sought after sweet shops in Shimla. Here we tried three different sweetmeats-chocolate(milk burfi with no trace of chocolate), panjiri ladoo and meshu-that were pretty good. We also picked up some historical anecdotes about the place from the owner.
After the pure ghee stuff it was time to savour some lip smacking pickles and preserves from another legendary place known as Thakur Bhrata. This shop too is a very old establishment that is coveted for its traditionally prepared pickles that are made with good quality ingredients. We tried four things of which the Amla and Gajar ka Murabba were simple yet phenomenal.
From there we went to our next stop Drigen Chinese Fast Food Corner, an inconspicuous veg eatery that is immensely popular with the young crowd. Here we had delicious momos and an interesting go to snacks called Kurkej which was essentially super tasty fried veggie sticks.
Next was the turn of a veg hotdog from a small roadside stall. It was the yummy chutney and the well made potato patties that made it a tasty treat.
At last we arrived at the Kamala Nehru Hospital premises to experience the langar service there run by the charitable organisation Almighty Blessings. They serve free meals in the evening to all visitors. Savitoj informed us how the local communities like schools, restaurants etc contribute effectively in the functioning of this heartwarming initiative. We also visited the kitchen, took part in the service and at the end relish the simple meal of rice dal and roti. Its was a surreal feeling to learn about this selfless acts of kindness and compassion. The food was superlative as it was served with such love and care.
We thank Savitoj for guiding us in this amazing exploration in and around the Lower Bazaar.

15 Minutes Evening walk on the Mall Road Shimla
Walk for a healthy body.Walking is one of the easiest ways to stay fit. You may have a busy life, but try and introduce physical activity in your life. A moderate dose of physical exercise for 30 minutes (if you can't manage that much, even 15 minutes is okay to begin with) a day is enough to keep you healthy. This form of aerobic fitness can lift your mood, make you physically fit, and improve the quality of your life.Walk your way to a healthy heart.Cuts your risk of hypertension and diabetes.Reduces risks and effects of cancer.Rejuvenate your mind and spirit.Usually a brisk walk is considered enough effort walking to raise your heart rate to about 120 beats per minute. A good measure of this is you should be walking fast enough that you can't sing, but slow enough you can still talk. If you can walk 1 KM in 10 minutes, that is called brisk walk.
