Shimoda Onsen is the general name for four hot springs within the city of Shimoda: Rendai-ji Onsen, Kawachi Onsen, Shirahama Onsen and Kannon Onsen. Boasting high-temperature and rich amounts of water, you can drop by on a day trip or spend the night. Nearby, there are ashiyu facilities where you can soak just your feet to relax.

Shimoda is a pleasant city on the Izu Peninsula. It has historical importance as the landing place of several of Commodore Perry's black ships in 1854, an event which marked the end of Japan's era of isolation and the start of diplomatic relations between the US and Japan. Effectively ending Japan's 200-year era of isolation from the outside world.
Shimoda Park is an attractive wooded park on a hill next to Shimoda's city center.
Fortifications for the defense of the city once stood on the hill, but only ruins remain. Today, Shimoda Park is the site of the Monument to the Opening of US-Japan Diplomatic Relations built in 1957, and more than one thousand ajisai (hydrangea), which bloom in June.

Me and Marin go on a short holiday to Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka prefecture, during Golden Week. This is what we did during the first day in the town of Shimoda!
The Izu Peninsula (Izu Hanto) is a resort area about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, popular for its hot springs, beautiful coastlines, beaches, mild climate, scenic mountainous interior and views of Mount Fuji from its western coast.

The Izu peninsula 伊豆半島 is a large mountainous peninsula with deeply indented coasts to the west of Tokyo on the Pacific coast of the island of Honshū, Japan. Izu peninsula is a part of Shizuoka Prefecture.
Shimoda 下田市 is located at the southern tip of the Izu peninsula about 100 kilometres southwest of Tokyo. Shimoda's location, with the Amagi Mountains to the north, and the warm Kuroshio Current to the south give the city a humid, sub-tropical climate.

We visit an onsen located in the Izu peninsula. We stayed on a Japanese room with a private bath and private hot spring. The best thing was the awesome ocean view from our balcony. The food there was always a feast. Recorded on April 24, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.

Shirahama Beach (白浜) is an 800 meter long beach that is one of Izu's most famous and popular attractions. People come to enjoy the sand and sun, while the area is also known for relatively good surfing conditions. The beach is about five kilometers east of Izukyu-Shimoda Station, parallel to the main road. Shirahama Jinja, a pretty Shinto shrine, stands along the beach.
There are shops and convenience stores selling food or renting beach gear along the main road. Paid showers are also available at the nearby shops. The official swimming season begins in mid July and lasts through August; however, with good weather conditions the swimming season can start as early as late May and remain pleasant through September.

I stayed at Yamatokan Japanese style hotel in Shimoda city in Izu area in Japan.
8年ぶりに宿泊する静岡県伊豆半島南端の下田市にある温泉旅館「下田大和館」皆様にお薦め出来る温泉宿です。
前回宿泊時は伊勢海老、鮑の踊焼、金目鯛の煮付け３点セットで1泊17500円でしたが、今回は同じ内容で1泊13000円（宿泊は2泊）でとれました。（部屋は前回の広い３階の部屋に比べたら狭い1階の８畳和室でした）
大和館の何が良いか
１．料理がまず豪勢で美味
２．温泉（露店風呂つき）
３．多々戸浜の海の眺望がどの部屋からも一望出来る（全室オーシャンビュー）
４．オンザビーチの宿（ビーチまですぐ）
５．施設が充実（温泉、レストラン、お土産屋、プール、ラウンジなど）
６．従業員のサービスが良い
７．綺麗で清潔な館内（改装おこない、清掃もしっかりとおこなわれている）
８．値段のわりにお得感を味わうことが出来る

下田の繁華街からは車で１０分程の場所ですが
下田散策にも最適な宿といえるでしょう。
就寝時は波音が聞こえてきますが、自然の音に熟睡できる事と思います。
お風呂は２種類用意しており、１日ごとに男女入れ替えです。
お薦めは高台にある海岸を一望できる露天風呂。
他に有料でプライベートの露天風呂も用意。
複数の駐車場完備しており、繁忙期でもいっぱいになる事ないですが
電車で来る場合、伊豆急の下田駅⇔大和館往復送迎バスを利用できます。
予約サイトじゃらんでの総合評価は５点満点中４．６ですが
ここまで高評価の宿はそうそうないです。
国内の宿を予約する際は予約サイト「じゃらん」で予約することが多いですが、安いビジネスホテルや安宿以外では
総合評価が４以上のところしか選びません。
今まで４以上のところは基本的に外れはなく満足の行く宿でした。
普通のホテルや旅館で３．５以下の宿は正直な話し、満足の行く滞在が出来ないところが多いのが実情です。（経営者、経営陣の努力が必要）
ネットが浸透する今の世の中、ネットでの評価が集客に影響しているのは事実。経営能力がある経営者であれば当然、集客するための努力をいて顧客の評価を高めています。
経営能力のない経営者は経営難に陥っています。
顧客が満足する要素を増やし、不満に思う要素を減らして評価を高めることが集客、収益にも繋がっていきます。
