Exploring unknown dam built across Lokapavani River near Kemmanahalli at Nagamagala Taluk Mandya Karnataka part of Nagamagala Tourism Mandya Tourism Karnataka tourism.
The Lokapavani is a tributary of the river Kaveri. It originates from Honakere, Hobli, Mandya and flows near the Karighatta hills. The river converges with Cauvery at Srirangapatna. The place of convergence is a triveni sangama, where two other tributaries of the Cauvery join Lokapavani.
The river has two anicuts, one at Bolenahalli and another at Uyyanahalli, which are used to divert water from the river for agricultural purposes.
Excess water from Markonahalli dam in Tumakuru, rainwater and water from small streams in nearby hilly regions were the sources of these tributaries. While Veera Vaishnavi was filling up tanks in and around Bellur and Bindiganavile, Lokapavani was the reason for farming prosperity in many villages.
