Abrolhos Islands Fly and Flipper Tour

Discover the breathtaking Abrolhos Islands!
Join this popular tour, starting with a breathtaking scenic flight from Geraldton. Fly over unique fishing settlements and three island groups, before landing at East Wallabi. Then, take a guided tour to the beautiful Turtle Bay. From there you will see spectacular coral reef while snorkeling through the clear blue water.

Geraldton Scenic Flight

Welcome aboard as we take a scenic flight around Geraldton in Western Australia. This video includes the cockpit audio from the flight so you'll hear the radio calls and some commentary as we go. The first 5 minutes takes you through the runup sequence and taxiing out to runway 21 at Geraldton Airport (YGEL). From there we take off and fly west to the coast and 35 nm over the Indian Ocean to the Abrolhos Islands (8 minutes in) where we descend down to 500ft for a better view. The weather was a bit hit and miss, but the first part was breath taking! We then track north to the northern most end of the Abrolhos Islands before turning back towards the mainland and the Kalbarri Gorge (14 minutes in). We follow the Gorge past Nature's Window before tracking past Kalbarri Airport (YKBR) and the town. From there we track south along the coast past the Kalbarri Coastal Cliffs (16 minutes), Hutt Lagoon (17:45 minutes) and back to Geraldton (18:30 minutes) before landing back at Geraldton Airport (20 minutes).

Joining us are a couple of friends from the USA who are more familiar with the area than me. They were great at pointing out the features and also spotting whales along the flight! Around the Abrolhos Islands are many ship wrecks so you'll hear us pointing them out (not visible in the video though unfortunately).

The audio calls are all in order but not necessarily at the same point of the video due to the edit. Unfortunately the elevation data was not good enough to include on an overlay, but you'll see the speed, distance and track as we fly along.
