Turquoise River Azusa crystal clear, the Hotaka Mountain Range and Kappabashi wooden bridge are the iconic image of Kamikochi so finally in this video we get to see these in different lights, early morning with ice crystals on the surrounding plant life, sparkling in the warm sun and blue sky and then again in copper tones and scattered clouds. We get to meet a cute ???? birdie doing a crazy boat race on a pond chasing fishes probably, and get to try the famous Nagano Apples baked in Shinshu style that is best at preserving the natural flavor. Kamikochi and all the Swiss style hotels are now already closed down as I'm winter the snow there is huge and all roads closed down too. But in spring they will reopen and come back to life and hopefully we can go again to this hidden gem of the Japan Alps! Easy to get here from Tokyo by Highway Bus, with the Alpico Line for around $65 one way. All hotels are quite expensive starting at more than $200 per person but there are fancy & clean dormitory private beds for around $110 including dinner and breakfast! Also a large camp site and many more options when in season! I can't wait to meet again the kind-hearted staff of my Alpen Hotel who made my stay so memorable!!!

Soba, or buckwheat noodles, is as important to Japanese food culture as sushi and tempura among Japanese. And, along with these other dishes, soba is representative of food that Japanese love with a passion.
Ina City is located in Nagano Prefecture, which is often called Shinshu, near the center of Japan. Ina city is a specialty area for Shinshu Soba, which makes the best of the wealth and abundance of nature.
The history of soba in Ina dates back 1300 years ago, thanks to a visiting ascetic. This ascetic returned the kindness of the villagers by introducing the soba seeds, as well as methods of cultivating the crop.
Enjoy Shinshu Soba, originated in Ina, Nagano Prefecture, and enjoy a unique culture of omotenashi, or hospitality, from long ago.

Japan VLog day 4&5 (Komagane)
The 4th and 5th day in Japan during 2017 Full write up in the website and blog link below, but if your not a fan of clicking elswere and reading long arcs of text with some pretty snaps thrown in heres the gist:
Shinkansen from Tokyo as far as we could then private rail to Komagane.
Lunch by the station and taxi to an amazing Ryokan in the hills.
Dinner at a nearby beer hall.
Early morning amazing breakfast, like blow my mind amazing.
Then the distillery! Mars Whisky Distillery. The tourist draw card for this one is still small so the tour is self guided :D
We meandered around town on the way back finding some amazing little shrines and temples, then grabbed our bags and it was back to Tokyo.
Thank you Komagane! You are stunning.

Kaiko Yume Tower in Shimonoseki, Japan
This tower has a 360 degree view of the city, unfortunately it isn't a revolving tower. You have to walk around by yourself to get the 360 view.
I grabbed a seat overlooking the water and set up my camera to take around 360 photos with 10 second intervals.
Camera was set to manual focus with an aperture of f5.6, however I had the camera set to auto ISO (so it changes from 320 to 400). Shutter speed was a constant 1/60.
I corrected the white balance to lesson the purple tint, and to bring out the tress more.
Camera used is a full spectrum converted Fuji X-T10 with the XF 25mm F2 lens.
Filter used is the LDP LLC X-Nite XDP filter from maxmax.com
I'm not sure, but the photos look similar to my B+W 403 UV filter (I'll need to do more research).

雲と雪原とラーメン(美ヶ原)その②
美ヶ原とは、コトバンクによると、
長野県中部，松本市東部から上田市，長和町にかけて広がる高原。周囲約 40km。標高 2000m前後で，飛騨山脈，赤石山脈，浅間山などの眺望に優れ，信州の展望台といわれる。火山性堆積物が隆起したのちに浸食された地形で，明治期に牧場が置かれたため草原をなす。八ヶ岳中信高原国定公園に属する。西麓に美ヶ原温泉郷がある。
というところだ。
撮影には4回行っている。夜明けの頃に行くのだが、そのうち2回は曇り空のため引き返している。2月3日は雪があったが、2月26日はほぼ雪が融けていた。

According to Kotobank and Utsukushigahara,
A plateau spreading from Nagano prefecture central part, Matsumoto city eastern part to Ueda city, Nagawa town. Approximately 40 km around. It has an altitude of around 2,000 m and is superb view of the Hida mountain range, Akaishi mountain range, Mt. Asama, it is said to be the observation platform of Shinshu. It was eroded after volcanic sediments were uplifted, and since the ranch was placed in the Meiji era, it forms a grassland. It belongs to Yatsugatake Nakanishi Takahara National Monumental Park. On the western the foot there is the Utaukushigahara Onsenkyo.
That is the place.
I have done it 4 times for shooting.I went there at dawn, but two of them are turning back because of a cloudy sky. There was snow on February 3, but on February 26 almost snow melted.
Ramen and gas stove are things prepared by myself.
