宮城県塩竈市(塩釜市)にある志波彦神社・鹽竈神社(塩釜神社)は、同一境内に二社が鎮座し、全国にある鹽竈神社の総本社となっています。また、宮城県内でも有数の花の名所としても知られ、春にはソメイヨシノや枝垂れ桜を中心に約40品種の桜が咲き、ソメイヨシノの見頃から約1週間程遅れて、八重咲品種で花弁が35～50片にもなる国指定の天然記念物「鹽竈桜(シオガマザクラ)」が咲き誇ります。ソメイヨシノなどの桜が見頃となる四月下旬の土日には、「しおがまさま神々の花灯り」も開催、境内の桜や参道、社殿などが幻想的にライトアップされます。
The Shiwahiko Shrine and Shiogama Shrine, located in Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture tohoku japan, have two shrines within the same ground, and become the general headquarters of shiogama Shrine throughout the country. In addition, it is also known as a leading flower attraction in Miyagi Prefecture, and in the spring there are about 40 varieties of cherry blossoms centered on Somei Yoshino and Weeping cherry blossoms. About a week after Somei Yoshino is in full bloom, a national designated natural monument Shiogamazakura blooms. On Saturdays and Sundays in late April, cherry blossoms, Approach and shrines within the precinct are fantastically lit up.

Cherry Blossoms at Shiogama Shrine in Japan
An overview of the Shiogama Shrine in Japan. Shiogama is located about 20 minutes via train from Sendai in the Migagi Prefecture-- and about 2 hours from Tokyo. We visited during April, which is Cherry Blossom season. We also had a tasty snack of odongo at the shrine which were some chewy rice cake things seasoned with red bean, soy sauce, and sesame.

2014 Tōhoku Sakura Tour―Shiogama Shrine
In the grounds of the shrine, there are 27 Shiogama-zakura (Shiogama Cherry Blossom) and at this season of the year, many visitors come here for the beautiful sakura.

帆手祭 Japanese Sacred Parade in Shiogama , Tohoku
Hote matsuriis a great Fire preventing festival which has about 300 years history in Shiogama,Miyagi Prefecture. They pray against disaster and for the prosperity of the people in the city.This huge one ton Mikoshi (Holy Shrine) is carried by the sixteen youth down the 202 steps of the Omotesando(main road of the shrine) and they take around the city until 8PM when they go back upward the Omotesando.
Among the people this is also called Spring-Inviting Festival.
宮城県塩竈市で行われる約300年の歴史を持つ火伏の祭であり、町内の厄除けと繁栄を祈願する。重さ１トンの神輿を若者16人が担ぎ、鹽竈神社の表参道の石段（202段）を下り、市内を渡御し、午後八時に再び表参道を登る。市民の間では春を呼ぶ祭とも言われている。
陸奥国一宮・鹽竈神社のサクラ巡り
陸奥国一之宮として知られる鹽竈神社の境内には鹽竈桜27本が植えられ、毎年この時期になるとたくさんの花見客でにぎわいます。
このシオガマザクラは、遥か平安時代から品種として成立していたものと考えられているといい、例年4月下旬から5月上旬にかけて満開となります。
平安の時代より受け継がれてきた悠久の美しさをどうぞご覧ください。
