Beautiful IZU Shimoda island in Japan. Shirahama beach Japan.
Shirahama Beach (白浜) is an 800 meter long beach that is one of Izu's most famous and popular attractions. People come to enjoy the sand and sun, while the area is also known for relatively good surfing conditions. The beach is about five kilometers east of Izukyu-Shimoda Station, parallel to the main road. Shirahama Jinja, a pretty Shinto shrine, stands along the beach.
There are shops and convenience stores selling food or renting beach gear along the main road. Paid showers are also available at the nearby shops. The official swimming season begins in mid July and lasts through August; however, with good weather conditions the swimming season can start as early as late May and remain pleasant through September.
Shirahama Shrine - Shizuoka - 白濱神社 - 4K Ultra HD
Located along the east coast of Izu towards Shimoda on route 135, Shimoda hides a gorgeous little shrine sitting right by the beach. Although it is rather small in size, the Shirahama Shrine is none the less full of surprises. Accessible by a small bridge, the shrine’s entrance will welcome you with a large red torii sitting next to a several centuries old tree which still stands proudly after being damaged many times by natural disasters. While Shirahama Shrine’s main hall is clearly visible to all, only the very curious visitors will find a small passage that will guide them deep into the shrine’s forest and to the top of its hill to enjoy yet another hall, heavily protected, where god is suppose to rest.
But by far the most famous part of this shrine is in fact located hundreds of meters away from it, on Shirahama Beach and where another red torii is standing still and proudly facing the wrath of the sea. And since we always like a good teaser, this very same torii and beach will be covered on another soon-to-come video of Shirahama!

Shirahama Beach - Shizuoka - 白浜 - 4K Ultra HD
Shizuoka Shirahama Beach - 白浜 - 4K Ultra HD : Alongside Shimoda and its many gorgeous beaches, Shirahama Beach comes in a close second. Famous among surfers this 800m long beach is EXTREMELY popular in summer, and we can’t stress the word popular enough here! During July and August you may have a hard time finding a decent spot to lay down your summer gear, even at 7 in the morning!
Besides the hotel nearby, the place does not offer much and we would strongly advise bringing a packed lunch if you want to eat something good while sunbathing.
Finally, Shirahama Beach is also popular for its nearby shrine and red torii sitting proudly on a huge rock located at the far left end of the beach. All year long this torii offers a unique view that can rarely be seen in Japan so we strongly advise bringing along your camera for some stunning shots!

Shirahama Beach is about four kilometers outside of central Shimoda. Take a bus bound for Itadoichiki (板戸一色) from Izukyu-Shimoda Station and get off at Shirahama Kaigan (白浜海岸, 10 minutes, 330 yen one way, 2 buses/hour).
Shirahama (白浜町 Shirahama-chō?) is a town in Nishimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.
Shirahama is a resort town on the south coast of Wakayama Prefecture. Its beaches are white sand, imported from Australia.[citation needed] Shirahama is known for its hot springs. During the summer (July and August), there are fireworks every night on the beach.[citation needed]
Shirahama is about two and a half hours from Osaka by JR West's Ocean Arrow train service. There are daily flights from Nanki-Shirahama Airport to Tokyo's Tokyo International Airport (Haneda).
On March 1, 2006 the town of Hikigawa, from Nishimuro District, was merged into Shirahama.[citation needed]
Located in southeastern Wakayama Prefecture, the town has a temperate climate. Many hot springs can be found here, most notably Nanki-Shirahama Onsen and Tsubaki Onsen. Two public baths in the town are part of a World Heritage site.
Shirahama is one of the very few municipalities in Japan that do not have azas, or towns and villages that were previously in the boundaries of the present-day town. The Shirahama beach is a beautiful 800-meters long white sand beach.
It is located along the coast of the Izu Peninsula, South-West of Tokyo
It’s the ideal place to swim and surf.
Not far away, there is a beautiful Shinto sanctuary, Shirahama Jinja. This area is also well known for its numerous hot springs.
The official swimming season starts mid-July and lasts until the end of August. Nevertheless, the weather, usually clement, allows swimming until the end of September
Location: Shirahama Shimoda-city, Shizuoka
Access: From Tokyo station, take the Tokkyuu Odoriko train that is direct to Izukyushimoda station.
The journey will take you about 2 hours 45 minutes.A white sandy beach and a southern resort feeling with palm trees and a stunning sunset make Shirahama Beach located at the southern tip of the Kii Peninsula an excellent alternative to flying out to Hawaii. Actually Shirahama Beach and Waikiki Beach have a good-will sister-beach relationship, and I wonder whether the white sand is also from Hawaii. In March only a few people stroll along the beach but in summer this place is popular with weekend tourists from Kansai.
Kirsikankukkia helmikuussa? Kawazu-zakura ja suljettu Japani | Shimoda & Kawazu, Izun niemimaa
Erityisen vaaleanpunainen kirsikankukkalajike, Kawazu-zakura, kukkii poikkeuksellisesti jo helmi-maaliskuun vaihteessa Izun niemimaalla Japanissa.

Kamakura
Yo! Kamakura. This was part-one of visiting Kamakura. There are too many things to to in one day. Here are the top things we did, saw, ate/ learned:
#1 We turned left out of the station, which leads to Komachi dori. Its is a famous historic street loaded with shops and things to eat! Good food!
#2 Chewy white balls AKA Dango (団子) is a Japanese dumpling and sweet made from mochiko (rice flour),[1] related to mochi. It is often served with green tea. Dango is eaten year-round, but the different varieties are traditionally eaten in given seasons. Three to five dango are often served on a skewer.
More on Dango :
#3 Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (The big shrine/temple I quickly ran up and down the stairs. It's worth checking out) It seems to be the most acessable and is meg close to Komachidori (#1)
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu was built during the rule of Minamoto no Yorimoto for a deity that was said to be the protector of Kamakura's samurai clans. This shrine is a popular place for locals to usher in the new year and it is also the most-visited tourist spot in Kamakura. The main building is located deep into the compounds and you will not be able to miss it as you enter the grounds and walk under the big Shinto gateway, over the arched bridge and up the stairway made of stone.
Here is a site with more like this:
#4 Curious about those loud bugs making noise? Here is more on those
SEMI
One of the most recognizable sounds of summer in Japan is the screeching of the cicada. Where do these critters comes from and what are screeching about?
#5 Beach
Beach Yuigahama
Word of the day:
Tabe-aruki (食べ歩き) is a compound word that comes from the two verbs to eat ( taberu) and walk (aruku).

DYA717 Japan May 23 26, 2017 Getting to Shirahama Kumano
DYA717 May 23-24, 2017 Getting to Kumano
Started on my trip to Japan on 5/23. 5 a.m. pickup for a 7 a.m. flight – big mistake—never again. Too early! kekekeke I have pictures of the meals that I had along the way so the first part of the video is going to be mostly for you foodies. LAX still going under lots of renovations. United is using only gates 7 & 8. They’ve closed down gates at 6.
Nov 25 – arrived at Kansai International Airport (KIX) at around 2:40 p.m. Got my JR railpass and jumped on the first train to Himeno station. I was supposed to transfer to a train to Wakayama but the conductor just told me to go to track 2. What he didn’t tell me was that the train on track 2 was a double train and was being split up, de-coupled, one going to KIX and the back half going to Wakayama. So, guess what? You know it, I rushed over and jumped on the front of the train so I was heading back to the airport. AU-WE! I jumped off at the next station and went back to Himeno station. This time I got on the back part of the train as they were de-coupling the train. So I got to Wakayama OK and transferred to another train to Shirahama. Got to Shirahama station around 6:45 p.m., jumped onto a cab and 1600-yen later I got to the Shirahama Seaside Hotel. Of course I got in late so my check-in just coincided with my assigned dinner time, so I dumped my junks in the room rushed downstairs. Nice big Japanese buffet dinner which the foodies should like. No strange food this time. No internet in my Japanese style tatami room so had to go down to the lobby to catch the free WI-FI. Onsen on the 2nd floor but I was too tired so showered in the room and crashed for the day.
While I’m crashed out, you’re thinking why/what’s Kumano? Kumano is the area south of Osaka, on the Kii peninsular. Shirahama is a seaside onsen town and a nice break before I reach where I was aiming for. Shirahama is rated in the top 3 oldest onsens of Japan! The other 2 oldest? Arima Onsen near Kobe and Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama on Shikoku Island which I have visited. So, I can knock off another Japan top oldest 3 list! : ) AND, Shirahama onsen also rates in the top 3 Biggest onsens in Japan along with Beppu in Kyushu and Atami on the Izu Peninsular. I got to knock off another top biggest 3 list! : )
Nov 26 – 6:00 a.m. onsen furo. Nice setup – a jacuzzi pool, 3 other pools and one outside rotenburo (outdoor pool). Breakfast at 7 a.m. Started BURA-BURA at 8:30 a.m. and returned around 1:30 p.m. with a coupla rest stops. First tour spot sign I saw pointed to a museum and a temple. So I figured I’ll pass on the museum and just go see the temple. No dice. 500-yen gets you into the Shirahama Museum and the Kanki Shrine. There are arrows showing you the path to take. Wow, surprise! The museum had India artifacts and some erotic stuffs. So I guess I gotta edit them out of the Youtube. Then the arrows point you to the Shrine and on the way out of the shrine there are sub-shrines dedicated to sex organs. Wow, talk about adult related material which I also edited out of the Youtube video. Not to worry you nosy buggers. I’ll attach the pictures separately so you can be shocked as I was! Kekekeke : ) OK, walked some more and came across the Sensojiki rock formations in the water which look like tatami mats. Then I came across Engetsu Island an interesting rock formation in the ocean. Then the Mifune Ashiyu (free onsen hot water footbath). Then the Kumano Sanshyo Jinja (shrine). Then the business district of Shirahama. They had a DAISO and several convenience stores. Then Shirahama white sand beach. Went past a Tsukumoto Ashiyu (free foot bath). Then Shirahama’s Fishermen’s Wharf. Then the Senjojiki Rock Plateau. Then the Sandanbeki Cliffs. You pay 1300-yen to ride the elevator down to sea-level into the caves to watch the waves rush in and out. Took a refreshment break at one of the restaurants around the cliffs. Then I decided to head back but by another route. Headed up the hill from the cliffs, ran into the Shirahama Golf Club. Looks pretty tough. It’s a hilly course and you’re playing among the trees. Then I totally lost my way so I was going round and round. Kekekeke Anyone with me would get really PO’d with me but I was having a grand time with my walking exercise. Finally I stopped at a Family Mart convenience store, had a beer and snack and asked the young lady where the Seaside hotel was. Turns out was around the corner, hidden by the hills. I was thinking of going off in a different direction so she saved me a few steps. Kekekeke : ) I got back to the hotel in time for the afternoon onsen furo which just re-opened after cleaning and switching the men/women sides. The onsen pool décor was different from the one last night. Was OK. I asked for an earlier time and got a dinner slot at 6 p.m. Sending the Youtube video to y’all and then crashing!

Shimoda (下田市 Shimoda-shi?) is a city and port located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of June 2014, the city has an estimated population of 23,501 and a population density of 224 persons per km². The total area is 104.71 km². In the 1850s, Japan was in political crisis over its increasing inability to maintain its national seclusion policy and the issue of what relations, if any, it should have with foreign powers. For a few years, Shimoda was central to this debate.

Dogashima - Shizuoka - 堂ヶ島 - 4K Ultra HD
Shizuoka Dogashima - 堂ヶ島 - 4K Ultra HD : Dosgashima, over time, has become hugely popular among both Japanese and foreign tourists. It is most famous for its dramatic stone formations and gorgeous landscape shaped by the lava flow from nearby volcanoes that erupted many centuries ago.
While most people tend to limit their visit to Dogahima itself, with its many restaurants and onsens, the place offers many different attractions to the more curious. These include some very scenic hiking routes that will allow you to enjoy Dogashima magmatic dikes and stone beach, as well as enjoying a 25-minute boat ride that briefly enters one of Dogasdhima’s many gigantic caves.
