Japan Trip: Drip of Beauty at the Shiraito Waterfall, Nagano56 Moopon
Japan Trip: Drip of Beauty at the Shiraito Waterfall, Nagano56 Moopon
Shiraito Waterfall (白糸の滝) is located in the forests north of downtown Karuizawa, in Nagano Prefecture. The waterfall is special in that there is no river flowing into the waterfall. The mountain above the waterfall has a volcanic stratum on which the groundwater flows before emerging in the Shiraito Waterfall. Though the height of the waterfall is only three meters, the water just flows all around the 70 meter width.
Shiraito no Taki translates to the waterfall of white threads. A truly appropriate name with multiple streaks of water draping over the surface gives the waterfall the appearance of a white curtain. A popular site, many believe the waterfall is most beautiful in the summer when the vegetation is lush. However, it is also a popular destination for autumn foliage in late October each year. Below the Shiraito Waterfall is a secondary waterfall in what appears to be water cascading over several steps.

Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji (富士山, Fujisan, IPA: [ɸɯꜜdʑisaɴ] ( )), located on Honshu Island, is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776.24 m (12,389 ft). An active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707--08, Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometres (60 mi) south-west of Tokyo, and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped several months a year, is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers. It is one of Japan's Three Holy Mountains (三霊山, Sanreizan) along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku; it is a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, a Historic Site, and was added to the World Heritage List as a Cultural Site on June 22, 2013.
The mountain has been selected as a cultural rather than a natural heritage site. As per UNESCO, Mount Fuji has inspired artists and poets and been the object of pilgrimage for centuries. The 25 locations include the mountain itself, Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha and six other Sengen shrines, two lodging houses, Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchi, the eight Oshino Hakkai hot springs, two lava tree molds, the remains of the Fuji-kō cult in the Hitoana cave, Shiraito Falls, and Miho no Matsubara pine tree grove.

日本之旅:長野縣 白絲之瀑布 美麗的紅葉 長野56 Moopon

The Big Fish Catch Itoshima 糸島
Kana Sounds - My Hiragana & Katakana iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch App:
The big fish catch happens at Fukae Beach in Itoshima, Fukuoka. On this specific catch there weren't very many big fish. Usually there are a lot of squid and much bigger fish. I am not sure if it's because of the time of year, or the heat, or both???
