Shiwa Ngandu is a grand English-style country house and estate in the Muchinga Province of Zambia, previously the Northern Province, about 12 kilometres west of Great North Road and half-way between Mpika and Chinsali. Its name is based on a small lake nearby, Lake Ishiba Ng'andu which in the Bemba language means 'lake of the royal crocodile'. The house itself is also known as Shiwa House. It was the lifelong project of an English aristocrat, Sir Stewart Gore-Browne who fell in love with the country after working on the Anglo-Belgian Boundary Commission determining the border between Rhodesia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kapishya Hot Springs - A Brief Portrait

Kapishya is a quiet secluded Lodge just off the Great North Road, situated on the Estate of Shiwa Ngandu (The Africa House) and is set along the banks of the Mansha River.

The main attraction of Kapishya is its natural, sulphur-free hot springs.

Kapishya has a fully stocked bar and a restaurant serving high standard international cuisine.

Lundazi Castle Hotel

The Lundazi Castle Hotel was built in the late 1940s during the British Colonial Administration. It accommodated the British District Commissioner and other government officials during their visits in the district. Since Zambia's independence in 1964, the Castle Hotel is a populat destination for curious tourists and visitors. I spend nights there and is even the one destination is the romantic novel I have authored: The Bridge which available in Lusaka at Book World Book Store.
