Ancient Japanese Music before an Ancient Tomb - Gagaku at a Kofun 雅楽 古墳
Gagaku is ancient Japanese court music imported from China in the 6th Century. Here Gagaku is performed before an ancient mound tomb known as a Kofun. Kofun were tombs built from mid-3rd century to the early 7th Century. Musashi Fuchu Kumano Jinja Kofun is a rare style with a dome top and a square base of which there are only four others of this style.
Nishifu restored this kofun only a short time ago and in mid-October they do a small festival with music performances in front of the kofun.
