Takahatafudoson Temple - Hino, Tokyo ᴴᴰ ● 高幡不動尊 日野
► Takahatafudoson Temple (also known as Kongo-ji) is a Shingon buddhist temple located in Hino, in the outskirts of Tokyo. It's a beautiful - and rather large - place, you won't find mentioned in Lonely Planet or similar guidebooks.
Apart from the mainhall & a five-storey pagoda, the complex also has a walkway that leads through no less than 5 smaller annex-shrines, buddhas, and lots of lush greenery making for a pleasent walk.
There's also a monk-school on the compound, which means there's always lots of activities going on. It's located 40 minutes from Shinjuku by Keio Line, and absolutely worth the trouble getting there. - Enjoy!
Hokokuji Bamboo Garden - Kamakura, Japan ᴴᴰ ● 報国寺 鎌倉
► The beautiful Hokokuji Bamboo Garden in Kamakura, is basically an annex of the Hokokuji temple (founded in 1334), located a 20 minutes walk from Kamakura Station.
Apart from all the impressive Moso Bamboos - the biggest type of bamboo in the world - the place also offers an open-air tea house, where you can sit and enjoy a cup of green tea overlooking the garden. What better way to spend an afternoon? - Enjoy!
