Interviewing EJ Liddell and DJ Steward at the O'Fallon Shootout
I had the chance to be on the broadcast team for the 5th annual Bank of O'Fallon shootout in O'Fallon, IL.
The showcase was stacked with high school basketball talent to the likes of Belleville West's EJ Liddell (Ohio State), CBC's Caleb Love, Whitney Young's DJ Steward and Tyler Beard, and Iowa City West's Patrick McCaffery (Iowa).

O'FallonTV: O'Fallon Justice Center Grand Opening | O'Fallon, Missouri
With a strong reputation as a community where residents can truly live, work and play, O’Fallon, Mo, is the seventh-largest city in the State of Missouri and the second-largest city in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. O’Fallon has been consistently rated as one of America’s “Best Places to Live” and one of “America’s Safest Cities”. When O'Fallon voters passed Proposition 1 in April of 2015, the City's elected officials and staff immediately began the process of making the dream of a new justice center a reality. From the groundbreaking ceremony to the final beam being placed, construction progressed rapidly. Then the day arrived when residents, staff, and City of O'Fallon officials came together to celebrate the grand-opening of O'Fallon's new state-of-the-art $26.8 million dollar Justice Center.

Cuddeback, 21, had driven from Ramstein to Frankfurt on March 2, 2011 to pick up members of the 48th Security Forces Squadron, including Alden. They had just arrived by commercial aircraft and were en route to Afghanistan via Ramstein. Shortly after members of the unit boarded Cuddeback’s bus, the suspect, Arid Uka, stepped aboard and started shooting.

Ohio State Commit Can't Be Stopped! EJ Liddell and Belleville West TAKE DOWN Bolingbrook!
Bolingbrook out of the south suburbs of Illinois was able to stay with southern Illinois powerhouse Belleville West throughout the entirety of the game. It wasn't until the end when Belleville West was able to pull away.
EJ Liddell had himself a highlight reel dunk that had Redbird Arena going crazy. Joseph Yesufu and the raiders hung tough with their 3-point shooting and work on the boards. The maroons with Marcellus Romious, Will Shumpert, and Deonte Wright were big on the boards.

6'4 Jordan Goodwin Goes Beast Mode! Illinois Top Junior leads Althoff To First State Title
6'4 Jordan Goodwin (Belleville Althoff) is the winningest and most productive player in Illinois high school basketball and he's just a junior! He might not be the most athletic or the highest ranked on the national lists, but Goodwin is a pure basketball player and he wins! He doesn't need a position at the next level.
Scoring over 1700 career points in high school so far, Goodwin led the Belleville Althoff Crusaders (32-2) to its first Boys Basketball state title after finishing second in 2015.
Goodwin has dominated varsity basketball since he stepped on the court as a freshman. As a sophomore, he led team in scoring (20 ppg), rebounding (8.4) and second in assists (2.5). As a junior, he did it again, averaging a team high 19 ppg with a team high 293 rebounds and 99 assists.
Goodwin is as competitive and physical as any high school player. He guards the opponent's best player, even if it means a 7 inch size disadvantage as it did in Peoria vs St Joes' 6'11 Nick Rakocevic.
Check out these highlights from the IHSA State semis and finals from Carver Arena in Peoria, IL. You'll see Goodwin's high basketball IQ and court vision on display in this mixtape, but his biggest strength is his rebounding (toughness) especially for his size and his position (guard). He's also a leader for his team.
In the state semis and finals in Peoria (2 wins), Goodwin put up 44 points, 25 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Goodwin scored 25 points, grabbing 15 rebounds in the 3A title game rematch from 2015 vs St Joes. Then Goodwin and the Crusaders dominated Lincoln-Way West 62-37 to win the Class 3A state title, not allowing a single field goal for a seven-minute stretch.
In the final, Goodwin finished with 19 points (8-14), 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals before exiting.
It was a historic season for the St Louis area Althoff with their only losses coming to Highland (when most of team still returning from playing football) and to Chaminade which features Goodwin St Louis Eagles AAU teammate Duke-bound Jayson Tatum, one of the top players in the country.
As for recruiting, high major coaches are taking notice of Goodwin. Jordan currently holds offers from Iowa (Football and Basketball), Purdue, Indiana, Creighton, Illinois, Missouri, SLU, Virginia Tech, Illinois State, Northwestern and more. That list will continue to grow!
Thanks to Matt Troha and everyone at the IHSA and Belleville Althoff Catholic.

Kidnapping of man in St. Louis connected to double shooting in county
5 On Your Side has learned police believe a man who said he was kidnapped in his own Porsche in St. Louis is connected to the double shooting of two women in St. Louis County, which left one of them dead.
And the surviving victim from the shooting told police one of the shooters is connected to one of her relatives, according to a police source.
St. Louis County Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Benjamin Granda would not confirm or deny that the two incidents are connected.
With any investigation, our detectives could potentially make connections to other criminal activity in the county or region, He wrote. The investigation remains very active.
Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old man told police he had been kidnapped by three men from the 1800 block of O’Fallon Street and forced at gunpoint into his own car, a 2017 Porsche Panamera.
He told police that the men disarmed him and put him in restraints as they drove him through different areas in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County, threatening to hurt him and his family if he did not tell them where he was hiding money.
The man escaped from his own car in the 3000 block of North 22nd Street, and his attackers fired shots at him as he ran.
Residents in a nearby home took him in and he called police, who responded at 10:06 p.m. There, police found the victim’s car and contacted St. Louis County, which was handling the St. Louis County case, according to a police source.
A woman who did not want to be identified told a reporter that the kidnapping victim “frantically” banged on her door late Monday, saying he had been kidnapped and was running from gunfire. The family said they heard the shots. The man then told the family that his cousin was among the men who kidnapped him and was on parole for a murder charge. He told the family that he had just been to one of his relative’s homes near Overland, where the men robbed two women and shot them.
The kidnapping victim told police that one of the women in the county case is his family member, and that they forced him to go to her house so they could rob her, according to the source.
St. Louis County police responded to that shooting around 9:50 p.m. in the 10800 block of Midland Boulevard.
They found a 44-year-old woman dead at the scene. The other, a 41-year-old, was taken to the hospital for life-saving treatment.
Police also believe one of the shooters is connected to a relative of the surviving victim, according to the source.
Police did not give her condition.

EJ Liddell TAKES DOWN MISSOURI'S BEST SHOOTER!! feat. Luke Kasubke
The No. 2 large school in the STLhighschoolsports.com rankings, Belleville West (26-3) has won three in a row after dropping consecutive games last week. Senior forward EJ Liddell appears to be his dominating self after missing the first game of his high school career last Tuesday. The reigning Mr. Illinois Basketball and an Ohio State signee, Liddell showed all the skills that make him such a talent. He scored 19 points while powering down dunks, alley oops and knocking down a 3-pointer. He grabbed six rebounds, shared the ball for four assists and added another three blocks to his ever-growing school record. Kasubke finished with 27 points and hit seven 3-pointers but appeared to not have a lot of legs left in the final two minutes when Chaminade needed someone to hit a big shot and put Belleville West under a mountain of pressure. -David Kvidahl
