Windsurfers tackle big waves as fresh storms hit Britain
Subscribe to ITN News:
As parts of the UK struggled to deal with yet more bad weather on Monday, the huge waves and powerful winds provided an opportunity for some people. Windsurfers on the south coast took to the sea to battle the elements, and news cameras were there to capture it all. Off Christchurch in Dorset, extreme sports fans negotiated their way through the choppy sea, sometimes succumbing to the elements. Dorset has been among the counties badly hit by the latest wave of stormy weather, which has brought with it more heavy rain and a further risk of flooding. Report by Mark Morris.

Windsurfers ride monster waves in Cornwall
The windsurfers were competing in the Red Bull Storm Chase Championship as they surfed huge waves in Cornwall.
French windsurfer Thomas Traversa was crowned champion after winning the third and final round of the series of the competition.
The competition was organised to coincide with the fourth major storm of a very active Atlantic season, with waves reaching 35ft (10m) in a 19 second period.
The high tides and strong winds have caused widespread flooding across the south west of England, with the Environment Agency have issued 350 flood alerts and warnings so far.

Rolling seas ran up the beach at Sennen, flooding the beach and soaking unwary children and dog walkers who decided to take a look at the rough seas.
Authorities have advised people to stay away from the coast after a 14-year-old boy disappeared whilst playing in the surf in Sussex.
Winds reached 99mph on the Isle of Wight, whilst in Portland Dorset winds reached 70mph.
Winds and high seas are set to continue for the next week.
