French doors lead to the patio with an outdoor fireplace and dining area, which is perfect for entertaining. Distressed 6” plank pine flooring runs throughout. THE SECOND GUEST OR CARETAKER’S HOUSE: Remodeled, this charming two-story home has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. ROAD TRIPPING to the CA COAST from CLEAR LAKE

Today we took a road trip from the Resort in Nice to the Pacific Coast, CA. First we headed North West on highway 20 through Willits and on to Fort Bragg. Then we headed south to the cliff and beach at Mendocino, before finally heading home on the Comptchi-Ukiah Road (and Orr Road), back to the lake through Lakeport again. It was quite a lot of driving, but the scenery was fantastic. We saw redwoods and the ocean. We discovered little hidden towns and ended our day with an absolutely fantastic sunset. Finally a grilled dinner and some down time. One of my favorite days of the trip!
NOTE: The little 'trendy' place I speak of @13:12 is Orr Hot Springs Resort. I would DEFINITELY go back and check it out again!

One of the first things we like to talk about when you are going to learn how to get into a kayak is keep in mind that more people tip over the dock, getting either in or out, than any other place on the water itself.
We have a tendency to be over confident about the fact that we should be able to get into a kayak with no problem. First thing I always like to do first off is look and make sure that you untie the boat because once you do get into your cockpit, you want to make sure that you can paddle away and not look up and realize that you are still tied to the dock.
The second thing is - take your paddle and lay alongside your kayak so that once you do get in, you will be able to reach right on over and grab the paddle. Next thing is - sit down onto the dock, put both of your feet into the front of the cockpit, just like this, facing forward.
I would like to teach people to take their outboard hand or their far reach hand and grab the side of the cockpit like this. Face forward, keep your weight to the dock, pulling the boat towards the dock, and then reach and over and have a seat right down into the cockpit, just like this.
Then once you get inside, you are going to adjust your foot pegs, you get yourself nice and comfortable. Reach on over, grab your paddle, and then gently push away from the dock to get ready to start your actual tour wherever you are going.
When you get ready to come back in, there are couple of things that you are always going to want to do as well. one of them is, you never want to try to reach out to grab the dock. You always want to work your way right up to the dock before you reach out because if you miss that dock by this much, you are going to tip your boat over.
So you want to be able to reach the dock first, put your paddle nice and gently back down onto the dock. Pull your outboard leg or your farthest leg out up, then bring yourself up and over and onto the dock like this. Nice and easy.

High winds causes huge ice shelf, ice floes to shove up and over the retaining wall in Fort Erie
On February 24, 2019 extreme high winds caused not only high water levels and fast moving waters in Fort Erie, Ontario, but massive slabs of ice to shove up over a wall onto shore in huge piles (see timeline below). A whole group of storm chasers were on scene to capture these moments, including Mark Robinson from The Weather Network, whose commentary can be overheard throughout the ice push section.
Some highlights:
0:00 extremely fast moving water, birds trying to fly against high winds
0:32 rapids, white caps on the water heading to the Peace Bridge
0:41 in distance, big ice shove (ice slabs pushing up along the shore wall, spilling up and over, making a wall of ice 30+ ft high)
1:40 view of ice from the water side pushing up against the wall
(multiple pushes continue for next period of time)
3:30 bigger push happens close by, keeps getting closer and closer until about 4:00, then slight pause, then
5:42 big ice shove right at our feet
5:53 massive ice floe breaches the wall right in front of us (cue adrenaline spike by all)
