Places to go near Brisbane- Shorncliffe Pier
This is an exploratory trip to find good places around Brisbane. This is a very good place. You can go here for short one day trips from Brisbane. Daytime would be preferred. It is great for picnic, fishing, writing if your a writer, reading. Very silent place, although people come for walking on the Shorncliffe pier. There is a great walk apart from the pier on the shore.

Shorncliffe revisit .... Spring in Brisbane
Great weekend getaway in brisbane. The pier is under maintenance for some reason. Will we looking at something exciting once done ??? The best way to get from the city is by train, just stop and walk about one km or so to the beach area, where you can take your children for a swim and play on the sand.

SHORNCLIFFE PIER RENEWAL
The Shorncliffe Pier is Brisbane’s largest timber pier and was constructed in the 1880s. It is one of the longest recreational piers in Australia, reaching approximately 350 metres out into Bramble Bay. In March 2012, Brisbane City Council closed the pier to public access and it was officially opened to the public by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk on 25 March 2016.
The Time lapse production offered a number of challenges for the Blackbox team, the location made it very difficult to mount and maintain the systems over the 2 year construction period. A custom housing and system was developed in order to capture the works from a distance. Make sure you watch to the end to see the final reveal, its worth it!

The pier is well known and used throughout the local community and is popular with residents and visitors to Brisbane. It is an iconic part of the Bramble Bay foreshore and holds great historic significance in the Brisbane City Council region.

I took these photos of the Shorncliffe Pier, late this afternoon. (10/7/2014). This beautiful pier is now deemed to be unsafe and will soon be demolished completely and rebuilt by Brisbane City Council. You can find out more about this project here:
