東北の美しいウィンターイルミネーション 石ノ森章太郎ふるさと記念館/宮城県登米市
仮面ライダーシリーズやサイボーグ009を生み出した漫画家・石ノ森章太郎の生誕地である宮城県登米市の「石ノ森章太郎ふるさと記念館」で、3万5000球のイルミネーションが装飾された「2012光のページェント」が行われました。
球数は少なくても、雪に反射して明るく照らし出す光景がとても幻想的でした。

This is a tourist facility built to commemorate being a hometown of a manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori who wrote the famous Japanese cartoon Masked Rider and Cyborg 009.This tourism facility will host illuminations with 35,000 light bulbs in winter.

The Reconstruction of Japanese Culture: Messages from Ishinomaki

Randolph-Macon College was visited by a group of five students and two staff members from Ishinomaki Senshu University in Ishinomaki, Japan. This university has been the partner institution with Randolph-Macon College in a research and cultural exchange program for the last two years. While at R-MC, the group made a presentation entitled 'The Reconstruction of Japan: Messages from Ishinomaki.' The presentation focused on the area's recovery in the five years since the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011.
