Showa Kinen Park or Tachikawa Park is the most awesome park to visit (and vlog in) in Tokyo, hands down. Whether it be to take in some chill Tokyo views, or to get mad leafy in Autumn, it'll always give you the best adventure to remember.
The park itself is huge! So be sure to come early if you're travelling as it only opens until 5pm most days. If it's too early or late in the year to be park season to get the peak yellow leafiness, not to worry. Tachikawa/Showa Kinen Park has amazing illuminations in Tokyo in Winter and a ton of activities in Summer too. Spring is an amazing time to travel to the park too to see everything in bloom.
Overall, I'd definitely say Tachikawa Park is the best park in Tokyo year round, if you're looking for things to do in Tokyo, I would definitely recommend a visit in 2018!

Out on the fringe of Tokyo, Showa Memorial Park is probably one of the best places to see autumn leaves in all of Tokyo! The park itself is massive, and has a wide variety of trees and activities. Showa Memorial Park is also a popular destination for autumn color viewing. The leaves in the park usually change color already around mid November, typically a couple of weeks earlier than the trees in central Tokyo. The park's premier places for autumn colors are the ginkgo tree-lined canal in the southeast corner and the Japanese Garden with its many maple trees.

We wanted to escape the busy centre of Tokyo and so we visited Showa Kinen Park for a day of peace and quiet. This park is huge and feels like you are in the countryside but it is only a short ride away from the city. So perfect if you want to escape for a day.
The park has multiple distinctive areas from Japanese and Western gardens, flower beds, lakes, ponds, hills and even a small village and traditional farm. The park is known for the various flower blooms over the year.
It was easy to rent bikes for the day within the park and there were dedicated cycling paths to explore. There are also row and pedal boats to rent, children's play areas and cafes and restaurants (with good ice cream!).
The park is easy to reach from Shinjuku Station using the JR Chuo line, with Nishi-Tachikawa Station located just outside. There is a small fee to enter the park and we bought our tickets from the automated machines by the entrance.

Showa Kinen Park tachikawa flower festival 2019 is one of Must-Visit Flower Festivals around Tokyo in Spring.
Showa Memorial Park (Showa Kinen Koen, 昭和記念公園) is a national park located in Tachikawa City, the suburb of Tokyo.
Showa Memorial Park is Tokyo’s top spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves viewing. There are about 1,500 trees of 30 varieties of cherry blossoms at the park which can be enjoyed till mid April usually.
In autumn, the park attracts visitors by colourful autumn leaves including Ginkgo and Maple trees usually from mid November.
