The Parshuram Temple is located two kilometres away from Somnath Temple, enroute to Dehotsarg. Parshuram is known to have carried out a severe penance for the sin of killing many hundreds as a kshatriya warrior, here. The temple spot is surrounded by dense trees and weeds. The temple premises itself is surrounded by a couple of water bodies. The main sanctorum has a black Parshuram idol holding his shastra axe, with idols of Kama and Kala besides it.

Parshuram Temple is the second most important temple in Thiruvananthapuram next to Padmanabha Swami Temple. It is about 8 kms from Trivandrum bus stand on the way towards Kovalam. We took a halt at this temple while going to Kovalam beach. This is a pretty old temple. The main diety is Lord Parshuram, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and others. Only Hindus can go inside. Male devotees have to remove their shirts and banyans before going inside. Women can go with their usual dress. Photo not allowed inside temple campus. It was a good spiritual satisfaction to visit this temple.

Triveni Mahasangam (Triveni Ghat) in Somanth is the confluence of three holy rivers namely Kapila, Hiran and a mystical River Saraswathy. It is believed that the rivers flow to the ultimate destination of Sea from here.This is a sacred location for taking dip in the Triveni Sangam. It is believed that the holy bath in the waters at this Ghat offers relief from all curses and ills happened in the whole life. Triveni Ghat has a significant place in Hindu Mythology and Puranas like Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is believed that Lord Krishna paid a visit to this holy spot after he was hit by an arrow shot by Jara, a hunter. This is a highly revered place in Somnath.

Kamnath Mahadev Mandir near Somnath
The Kamnath Mahadev Temple, built about 200 years ago by a Mayurdhwaj King, is a renowned temple located in Somnath. This is a large temple complex with a holy pond known as Dudhiyu Talav, a water well known as Gangvo Kuvo and a bathing pool named as Mahadev no Kund. The legendary stories claim that the pond water has majestic healing powers and it is believed that Mayurdhwaj King recovered from leprosy after taking bath in this place.
