पारसनाथ की पहाड़ियाँ या श्री सम्मेता जी, समुद्र के तल से 4480 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। ये गिरिडीह की पहाड़ी श्रुंखला है जिसकी सर्वोच्च शिखर 1350 मीटर ऊँची है।यह केवल झारखंड की ही सबसे ऊँची चोटी नहीं है बल्कि हिमालय के दक्षिणी हिस्से का सबसे उंचा पर्वत पारसनाथ जैन धर्मावलम्बियों के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण तीर्थ है।
जैन धर्म ग्रंथों के अनुसार 24 तीर्थंकरों में से बीस ने इस पावन स्थली पर मोक्ष प्राप्त किया है। इन सभी बीसों तीर्थंकरों के मंदिर मधुबन तैलैटी में अवस्थित है।

पारसनाथ पर्वत विश्व प्रसिद्ध है, यहां हर साल लाखों के संख्या में देश-विदेश से सैलानी आते है। तलैटी से जल मंदिर 10 किलोमीटरऔर पारसनाथ शिखर तक तकरीबन 9.65 ,किलोमीटर की यात्रा करनी पड़ती है। ये यात्रा पैदल करना होता है। क्योंकि दुर्गम पहाड़ी पर वाहन जाने का साधन नहीं है। जो यात्री पैदल चलने में असमर्थ होते हैं वो डोली का सहारा लेते हैं! इसके लिए उन्हें 3000/- से 6000/- हजार तक प्रति व्यक्ति शुल्क

Parasnath Hill, or Shikharji, is a famous Jain pilgrimage site situated in Giridih district in Jharkhand. It lies on NH 2, the Delhi-Kolkata highway in a section called the Grand Trunk road. Shikharji rises to 4,429 feet (1,350 meter) making it the highest mountain in Jharkhand. The pilgrimage to Shikharji is a round trip of 30 km through the Madhuban forest. The section from Gandharva Nala stream to the summit is the most sacred to Jains. The pilgrimage is made on foot or by a doli along a concrete paved track. Along the track are shrines to each of the twenty revered Tirthankaras. There is an option for parikrama of whole Parasnath Hill of 54km. The pathway of parikrama is throughout the forest and is only for walking.
Nearest railway station named “Parasnath Station” is situated in Isri bazar, Dumri Jharkhand. It is around 25km from Madhuban. Parasnath station is situated on Delhi-Howrah Grand Chord via Kanpur, Allahbad, Mugalsarai, Gaya, Asansol. Many long distance trains have halt at Parasnath Station. Daily connectivity to Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kolkata, Patna, Allahabad, Kanpur, Jammu Tawi, Amritsar, Kalka etc are available. Even 12301-12302 Howrah Rajdhani Express via Gaya Junction has a halt on Parasnath station.

I am back with another VLOG!!
In this I visited Parasnath.
So, Parasnath is a mountain peak in the Parasnath Range. It is located towards the eastern end of the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the Giridih district Jharkhand, India. At 1365m Parasnath is the highest mountain peak in the state of Jharkhand, and is theoretically inter visible (by direct line of sight on a perfectly clear day) with Mount Everest over 450 km to the north. It is easily accessible from Parasnath railway station and also well connected by Roadways and there are waterfalls and other tourist attractions in the area. This is one of the best tourist spot in the state and is major place for worship for Jain followers. Best months to visit are from July - March.

On the mountaintop there is the Shikharji Jain temple, an important tirtha or Jain pilgrimage site. It is the most important Jain Tirtha (pilgrimage site) for the Jains, believed to be the place where twenty of the twenty-four Jain tirthankaras along with many other monks attained Moksha, according to Nirvana Kanda and other texts.(*Slight mistake in my video)

पारसनाथ की पहाड़ी भारत में झारखण्ड राज्य के गिरिडीह जिले में अवस्थित है। यह झारखण्ड की सबसे ऊंची चोटी है। इसकी ऊंचाई 1365 मीटर है।

One of the must visit temple of Jain Community is Sammed Shikharji is situated at Parasnath Hills.Stay can be done at Madhuban Area with many Dharamshala available at nominal charges.

This place is of high importance for Jainism. All the Tirthankara except first attained enlightenment here. Lots of dharamsala are there for stay. Place is too much crowded during festivals. Also, do visit bhomiyaji temple situated at the foot of hill.

This is one of the biggest pilgrimage for Jains and with lots of temples, religious library, meditation center in the area. For explorers, it is one interesting mountain trekking experience with great views.

About Parasnath/Shikharji Temple

शिखरजी या श्री शिखरजी या पारसनाथ पर्वत भारत के झारखंड राज्य के गिरीडीह ज़िले में छोटा नागपुर पठार पर स्थित एक पहाड़ी है जो विश्व का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण जैन तीर्थ स्थल भी है। 'श्री सम्मेद शिखरजी' के रूप में चर्चित इस पुण्य क्षेत्र में जैन धर्म के 24 में से 20 तीर्थंकरों (सर्वोच्च जैन गुरुओं) ने मोक्ष की प्राप्ति की। यहीं 23 वें तीर्थकर भगवान पार्श्वनाथ ने भी निर्वाण प्राप्त किया था। माना जाता है कि 24 में से 20 जैन ने पर मोक्ष प्राप्त किया था।[2] 1,350 मीटर (4,430 फ़ुट) ऊँचा यह पहाड़ झारखंड का सबसे ऊंचा स्थान भी है।

कैसे पहुंचे पारसनाथ

अगर आप ट्रेनमार्ग से पारसनाथ जाने की योजना बना रहे हैं, तो पारसनाथ स्टेशन पर उतरना पडेगा. स्टेशन से सम्मेद शिखर 22 किलोमीटर दूर है. यदि आप हवाई मार्ग से आते हैं तो आपको रांची एयरपोर्ट उतरना होगा, फिर यहां से आगे आप सड़क मार्ग और रेल मार्ग का उपयोग कर पारसनाथ पहुंच सकते हैं. रांची से आप टैक्सी लेकर पारसनाथ जा सकते हैं. वहीं धनबाद से यह 60 किमी दूरी पर स्थित है.

By Airway; Nearest airport is Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport, Durgapur (RDP) West Bengal and 1 hour drive from airport.

This is my humble effort to provide information for the visitors about Dharamsalas and hotel in Madhuban, Shikharji, Parasnath, Sammed Shikhar. (2019)


Parasnath or Shikharji is not only a religious destination for the Jains, but it is also one of most beautiful tourist places in Jharkhand.

But there is very little information about Dharamsalas and Hotel at Madhuban in the Internet.

In this video, I have tried to provide information regarding the top Dharamsalas and hotel in Madhuban. Dharamsalas at Madhuban offer best accommodation and vegetarian food at minimalistic price.

We visited Parasnath last winter, there we stayed at Uttar Pradesh Prakash Bhawan.
Though I am not attached to any religion, this Dharamsala, specially meant for the Digambar Jains, welcomed me as their own.
