King Taksin Shrine - Unseen Thailand Sight Seeing Tour in Tak North Thailand - Real Thailand vlog 4
Real Thailand vlog 4 (king Taksin shrine) , we go on a sight seeing tour in Tak (North Thailand) and visit a beautiful shrine in honor of King Taksin The Great. Hardly visited by tourists (unseen Thailand) and located at the half way point between Bangkok and Chiang Mai this place is well worth a visit. Although similar in appearance to a temple king Taksin shrine is more a place of giving respect and offerings to one of the greatest figures in Thai history.

Taksin was born into a Chinese and Thai family, but was adopted into a noble one. He quickly rose through the government ranks and soon became a governor.
Enemy country, Burma, was on the attack so they decided to capture and destroy the Thai capital. Taksin spent a full year defending the besieged city before he finally managed to break through the Burmese with just 500 men and flee before they stormed the gates.
Taksin overtook the destroyed city and became the king. The death of the former king meant that Siam was divided into five independent states. The following 3 years, Taksin spent unifying Siam by defeating and killing the rulers of those states.
Taksin devoted himself to religion and proclaimed that he was a god now. His blood was white, he could control the weather and monks had to worship him if they didn’t want to die. His closest friend and ally, Phraya Chakri organized a coup and the king was sentenced to death.
