[Sado Island] Walking around Shukunegi Village - Niigata - 宿根木 - 4K Ultra HD
Having been a port since the medieval times, Shukunegi went through a prosperous 17th century brought about by the Sado Kinzan Gold Mine. It was developed as a kitamaebune (a famous shipping route from the Edo period) port of call for the merchant shipping industry. Facing a small inlet, Shukunegi is characterised by the crowded rows of over 100 houses built with plate walls made from ship planks. It has been designated as a National Important Preservation Area for Traditional Buildings and Architecture.

Oni Daiko in Sado, Niigata, Japan
I am impressed to see the Oni Daiko ( (Demon drums) in Sado Island of Japan.
Oni-daiko is a local religious performance to stave off devils and evil spirit from life, family and society as well. It is know as Ondeko as well.

Ehmdee Vlog#18: Sado Island Pilgrimage
Last May 11, 2019 Catholic Churches in Niigata; Naoetsu, Itoigawa, Nagaoka and Niigata Cathedral come together for the pilgrimage in Kirishitan Tom (キリシタン稼) in Sado Island, Niigata. Where we experience walking in wilderness experiencing tiredness and exposing under the heat of sun as we walk through the place where all of parishioner of churches gathered to attend the Mass. This experience taught us the hardships that strengthens our faith in God. That despite hardships in journey of our lives there are people will certainly help you and strengthens more your faith.
Sado Fishing Village Shukunegi
Stone roofs are one of the ways the roof was waigted and protected from winds battering the island.
Characterised by the narrowest of alleys between the houses, each protects the next from the worst of the weather.
Down in the far southwest of the island is the unusual village of Shukunegi.
This coastal community developed in the latter part of the 17th century (1661-1678) as a home to shipbuilders.
Little shrines A stone niche serves as a wayside shrine in Shukunegi.
400 years of history can be seen and life still as it was 400 years ago.

Adeyto ????️ STUNNING ONOGAME AMUR DAYLILY TOBISHIMA KANZO Flower SADO ISLAND ????️ HUAWEI P20 PRO
Why I came from Tokyo all the way to here: to see this incredibly stunning view of Japan with the Ohnogame mountain that reminds of Machu Picchu in the backdrop! Early summer in Sado features the amur daylily (tobishima kanzo). A meadow filled with tobishima kanzo, sweeping across the Ohnogame outcrop, is said to be the largest cluster of its kind in Japan, and is one of the best views in Sado. These lilies come into full bloom in early June, when Sado Kanzo Matsuri (festival) is held.

Adeyto ????️ BATHTUB BOAT TARAI BUNE YAJIMA SADO ISLAND NIIGATA ????️ HUAWEI P20 PRO
This is so much fun to watch the old ladies capitains of the tiny boats so good at their⚓ job meanwhile the school kids are not able to move the boat even a meter ????! A tarai bune, or tub-turned boat, is a traditional Japanese fishing boat found mainly on Sado Island and used for catching abalone and other mollusks. The design originated from the need to fish in the narrow coves formed by earthquakes. First used in the Meiji Period, starting in 1868, the boat’s durable design makes it more easily maneuvered than a traditional type. Now-a-days, the tubs hold 1-2 people, plus a steerer.
Tourists can take a 7- to-8-minute guided boat ride for ¥500. A popular place to take off is near Ogi Port in Ogi Town but a much more beautiful location is Yajima Island park on Sado Island, it features a cute red Japanese bridge and walking paths built on top of the pillow lava and the elevated lava shore.
