Supermarket shopping in Thailand, a tour of the bizarre foods available. Weird Thai food in Thailand
New Thailand videos every Wednesday. Subscribe: Supermarket shopping in Thailand. A tour of the bizarre Thai food available in the frozen food section of my local grocery store in Krabi, Thailand. Frogs, edible insects, turtles and many more, all authentic Thai foods ready for cooking into delicious Thai cuisine. Weird food shopping in Thailand!
There are many bizarre food items available in Thailand, from both the supermarkets and the Thai food markets and I thought I'd show you some of them. It's a bit different to what you'd see in your Asian grocery store at home.
Some people might call this disgusting food, but I have eaten frog, and a lot of the edible insects and they are quite nice, and bugs are apparently a very healthy food. I'm not sure if you'd call this the best Thai food to try on your Thailand holidays, but eating bizarre foods is certainly a possibility in the many things to do in Thailand.

NEW Khao Soi and Northern Thai Restaurant in Bangkok | Where to Eat Near Icon Siam Ep.1
There's a new khao soi and northern Thai restaurant in Bangkok, just down the road from the Icon Siam Shopping Mall. I went there today to see if it's any good.
Khao Soi Ni Kala - ข้าวซอยในกะลา(อาหารเหนือ) serves up some seriously good khao, seriously, it's definitely one of, if not THE best khao soi in Bangkok (bold claims I know!) If you're not familiar with khao soi, it's a famous curry noodle dish found in Chiang Mai and across Northern Thailand.
The best thing about Khao Soi Ni Kala is that they serve beef khao soi which is quite rare in Bangkok. They also sell chicken and pork versions as well as all the other Northern Thai classics such as Khanom Jeen Nam Ngiaow, Nam Prik Noom, Nam Prik Ong, Hang Lay Curry and my favourite, Sai Ua - Northern Thai Sausage.
As promised, here are some English to Thai translations. Just point to the ones you want when you order and you won't have any trouble getting what you want!
Khao soi with beef - ข้าวซอยเนื้อ
Khao soi with chicken - ข้าวซอยไก่
Khao soi with pork - ข้าวซอยอหมู
Sau Ua (sausage) - ไส้อั่ว
Hang Lay (Pork belly curry) - แกงฮังเล
Khanom Jenn Nam Ngioaw (rice noodles with pork and tomato) - น้ำเงี้ยว
Nan prik noom (green chilli dip) - น้ำพริกหนุ่ม
Nam prik ong ( red pork dip) - น้ำพริกอ่อง
Here are directions and opening times for the restaurant:

I think Thai breakfasts are delicious and I’ve made 3 videos about some of my favourite Thai breakfast dishes. This is part 3, about “kanom jeen”.
Kanom jen is made from fermented rice noodles which are covered in a curry-type sauce. The sauces come in many flavours including fish, crab or chicken curry and they usually have a coconut milk base. The dish is served with a variety of raw and pickled vegetables which are either eaten separately or stirred through the noodles and eaten with them. Kanom jeen is also often served with fried chicken or boiled egg. It’s a really delicious Thai dish and is definitely worth trying for a traditional breakfast on your Thailand travels.

Best restaurant & accommodation in Krabi, Thailand - The Frog and Catfish. 15 minutes from Ao Nang
The best restaurant & accommodation I have found in the Ao Nang and Krabi Thailand area (15 minutes from Ao Nang, Krabi Town and Klong Muang), actually it's the best restaurant I have ever found, anywhere. Their reviews on TripAdvisor tell a similar story.
The food is absolutely delicious, some say it's the best restaurant in Krabi, and I would agree with them. The prices are great, the staff are awesome and the restaurant has to be seen to be believed. The gardens are amazing and you can even swim there. It is a true slice of Paradise!
And it's a great wedding or honeymoon venue.
There are plenty of choices on the menu - authentic Thai food and Western foods are both available. The chef, Bua, is so passionate about her work, everything I have tried from the menu is absolutely superb! All of their staff go above and beyond to ensure their customers have an amazing experience.
They do luxury accommodation cheap as well, the best I have found in Krabi. They can organise tours as well - kayaking, elephant treks, Island hopping and Thai cooking classes are all available. But the place has everything you could want and is so relaxing and beautiful that you may not want to leave. It's about 15 minutes out of Ao Nang in Din Daeng Noi (not far from Ban Nong Thale/Ban Khao Klom), but it is so worth the trip.
Their website is frogandcatfishkrabi.com
If you are looking for an amazing experience with a personal touch go and see Bua and Gary at the Frog and Catfish ... tell them Darren from Australia sent you! Visiting The Frog and Catfish Restaurant is definitely one of the best things to do in Krabi Thailand!

Street Food & Shopping at a Local Market in Thailand. A Walk Around a Thai Food Market in Phuket
NEW THAILAND FOOD AND TRAVEL VIDEOS EVERY WEDNESDAY. Subscribe: Street Food & Shopping at a Local Food Market in Phuket Thailand. This is a Thai Food Market I found on a rainy day in Phuket Town, on the island of Phuket. There were all sorts of prepared and cooked foods as well as loads of fresh foods available - fruit, vegetables, meats and seafood, and everything you could possibly want from chicken heads to seaweed to pig snouts. There were also loads of Thai street food vendors. If you do a Google search for: Market Talat Nuea, Sam Kong Rd, Mueang Phuket, Phuket Thailand you'll find the location on Google Maps. It's open from about 3pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Thai street food is everywhere in Thailand. It’s cheap and it is really delicious, all the food is cooked fresh as the vendors sell it, it’s some of my favourite Thai cuisine, and there is so much variety of street food in Thailand! Thai Street Food is a must to try if you’re on holidays in Thailand, and there’s loads of street food in Phuket!

Buying Thai Street food outside the airport in Bangkok
I had a short layover at Bangkok's Don Mueang airport and decided to buy my dinner on the streets of Bangkok instead of the fast food places in the airport. It was a very smart decision.
