Anam Highlights (Siamsa Tire, The National Folk Theatre of Ireland)
Co-commissioned by Dublin Dance Festival and The National Folk Theatre of Ireland, Anam (meaning ‘soul’) brings together the skills of world-class step dancers from the U.S., Canada and Ireland in an exhilarating fusion of styles. Authentic and raw, this percussive dance piece explores the similarities and differences between the dancers and their distinct hard shoe styles. Anam celebrates the essence and spirit of these step dance traditions while injecting them with fresh energy to create something new.
Featuring dancers Matthew Olwell (Appalachian Flat Foot), Jonathan Kelliher (North Kerry “Munnix” style), Nathan Pilatzke (Ottawa Valley, Canada) and John Fitzgerald (Modern Irish). This uplifting new show will be performed to live music and song composed by acclaimed Irish musician Fergal Ó Murchú.

Oileán, Celebrating the Blasket Islands
The Great Blasket Island, located off the coast of West Kerry still retains an almost mystical significance for many, both from Ireland and abroad. The way of life of the islanders and their spirit of survival is framed in this production, which captures the essence of this island community, their traditions and customs, their wealth of song and story, their love of life and their strong kinship with one another.

Rehearsing for Turas (Journey) - a new show in production for Siamsa Tíre, Tralee
Siamsa Tíre is working on a new show, Turas (Journey) which will be launched at the end of May 2013. Turas will feature some of the best young Irish musicians, dancers and singers. Here are two of the fabulous performers who will be featured, Conor Moriarty on accordion and Ciara Callanan Ryan with some fancy footwork... We'll be posting more tasters over the coming weeks, so stay in touch!
