Sicily: Mount Etna, Taormina & Northeastern Sicily with Sarah Murdoch | Rick Steves Travel Talks
In this travel talk, Rick Steves' Europe co-author and tour guide Sarah Murdoch explains how Mount Etna — the still-active volcano simmering in Sicily's northeastern corner — gave rise to the island, and still dominates it today. We'll also drop in on the posh resort of Taormina, Catania — Sicily's gritty second city, with a good WWII museum — and the charming beach town of Cefalù.

Places to see in ( Taormina - Italy ) Porta Catania di Taormina
Places to see in ( Taormina - Italy ) Porta Catania di Taormina
Porta Catania di Taormina is one of two ancient entrances of the city (along with Porta Messina at the other end of Corso Umberto). Today’s look is the final result of various changes and restoration, the most recent one is from the 15th century, made by the Aragonese.
Porta Catania di Taormina is one of the main gateways that tour groups surge through to explore the Corso Umberto. A good and busy place to meet. There is a post office and drop of spot for taxis. Porta Catania is at one end of the main street and Porta Messina is at the other end of town around ten minutes walk along
There are two gateways to the central part of the village of Taormina. The Porta Catania is the less ornate of the two. It is not much more than a stone archway.

Estate a Taormina - Summer in Taormina, Sicily
