Where Does New York City's Trash Go? | Living City | The New York Times
The Street vendors of New York - Short documentary
In 2012 I went to New York with the plans of doing a project on a husqvarna dealer. When I finally arrived the plans got canceled. So I went out on the streets a feeling a little blue, praying that I would come up with a better idea, when all of a sudden, I walked into this huge amount of people protesting about something. Thankfully, I had my camera with me so I decided to take some shots and ask around, one thing led to another and after about two hours I managed to schedule a interview with the organisation leaders the next day. The other side of this conflict kept refusing and rebooking scheduled interviews during my whole stay. So, I decided to use the material I got and tell the story of the people. From my perspective.
Produced, interviewed, shot and edited (+ grading) by: Samuel Enblom.
This is shot with my canon 7D and my 50mm 1.8 lense.

Manhattan from 14th to 34th Streets, Midtown South, New York
There is a big fascinating chunk of New York's Manhattan that a lot of visitors don't see, between 34th Street and 14th Street, and we’re going to show you the highlights in this movie.
Click to Subscribe
In many ways it's the authentic, commercial heart of the city, but it's a part of the city that's not heavily visited by tourists. It would certainly be worth your while.
Just a mile from bottom to top, but we’ll take a winding route three times longer. We’ll start at Union Square and walk you north to 34th Street, giving you a taste of the real life of New York City, including Gramercy, Flatiron, NoMad and the pedestrian malls along Broadway.
You'll discover the contrasts of this Midtown South – coffee shops to relax, some famous landmarks, busy shopping streets, Koreatown, Asian imports. There are some characters on the street that you'll meet.
Hotel prices are a bit lower here. At the end we’ll have an extended sequence on rush-hour at Penn Station, 34th Street, but we start out in a much more quiet zone.
George Washington presides over Union Square in the spot where he met the public after the British evacuation in 1783.
The farmers market happens all day, year-round, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from about eight in the morning until 6 PM. You can see it's a big hit with the local residents.
Life for the New York worker who commutes home every day out to the suburbs is quite a bit different than the typical tourist experience in New York. Visitors have that luxury of staying put in Midtown or some nice hotel that is centrally located, and don't have to worry about fighting these crowds at rush-hour.
If you ever thought that living in New York would be a glamorous and exciting life, consider this: Perhaps it's pretty difficult. Rents in Manhattan are among the world's highest, so you would probably be commuting out of the suburbs like this every day.
However, you might be using Penn Station on arrival or departure from New York. Just try and avoid this rush-hour crowd if you can.
Chinatown, New York
We’re taking you to Manhattan's Chinatown, which is the most famous and home to the highest concentrated, industry population density of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere.
Click to Subscribe
Most visitors blow through in about half an hour and just walk along a couple of the main streets like Mott, Mulberry and Canal and then depart, and that's fine.
But you can venture into the side streets and go further east to get a real taste of the neighborhood, as we’re showing you on the map route that we took to make this movie, bringing you all around.
Chinatown has several quite different faces. On one hand it's an exotic bit of Asia appealing to tourists. It will is like entering a different world from the rest of Manhattan, lots of shop selling trinkets and many restaurants serving authentic cuisine making a, fine place to stroll.
On the other hand, it’s, a very busy commercial district with small factories, trucks loading and unloading everywhere, warehouses packed with goods importing and exporting, many little banks and a him slightly chaotic energy. It's a busy New York dynamo.
We will take a walk along Hester Street for a few blocks. It's one tourist shop after another, it seems, but fun to look at with these open fronts.
As you look down the side streets you'll notice that gridiron of the old fire escapes. It really is a characteristic and quaint touch of old New York.
Here you can see how Chinatown has really been expanding, especially out here on the east side with the residents from Fuzhou in the southeast part of China. In recent decades they have been the main group coming in.
#zoo #newyork #centralpark Central Park and Zoo Little Italy China Town New York
The Central Park Zoo is a 6.5-acre zoo located at the southeast corner of Central Park in New York City. It is part of an integrated system of four zoos and one aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society
Central Park is an urban park in Manhattan, New York City, located between the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with an estimated 37–38 million visitors annually, and one of the most filmed locations in the world
Little Italy welcomes a heavily tourist crowd to its high concentration of souvenir shops and traditional Italian eateries and bakeries. Tenement buildings, once home to the immigrants who settled the area in the late 1800s, line the narrow streets. Mulberry Street, the main thoroughfare, turns into a pedestrian mall on summer weekends. The area celebrates its heritage each September at the busy San Gennaro festival.
Vibrant Chinatown is a densely populated neighborhood that draws foodies and tourists to its many Chinese and Southeast Asian restaurants for dumplings, pork buns and hand-pulled noodles. The busy sidewalks are packed with souvenir stores, bubble tea shops, and markets selling everything from fresh and dried fish to herbs and spices. Locals hang out in leafy Columbus Park for Tai Chi, chess and mahjong.
New York City comprises 5 boroughs sitting where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean. At its core is Manhattan, a densely populated borough that’s among the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. Its iconic sites include skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building and sprawling Central Park. Broadway theater is staged in neon-lit Times Square.
Visit America - New York City Travel Guide and Chicago Top Attractions
When visiting American two cities should be on your shortlist: New York and Chicago. As far as tourism is concerned you won't find more world class cities to visit in the United States that offer as many different options for festivals, arts, entertainment and dining. NYC, USA and Chi-town really have it all and in our travel video guide we'll recommend some of the top things to do in both cities. Without a doubt these two iconic cities offer some of the best things to do in America.

The US-Canada Border Splits This Road Down The Middle
Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that's split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren't as easy as they used to be.

Junkies Take Over Corridors Of San Francisco Civic Center BART Station
Shocking video is calling attention to what's going on in one of the busiest BART stations in the Bay Area: junkies blatantly shooting up out in the open as commuters walk by, others slumped along filthy corridors. Wilson Walker reports. (4/25/18)
Canada Border Crossing from USA on foot
Crossing the border from USA into Canada on foot across Rainbow Bridge.
To get to Canada from the USA, cross Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, New York USA into Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. To leave the United States of America, walk through a self locking metal turnstile gate without needing to show any id at this point, half way across the Rainbow Bridge there is a bronze plaque on the bridge fence indicating the United States / Canada International Boundary Line, this area is also notated with the Canadian flag flying next to the USA flag. To enter Canada after crossing the International Boundary Line you must show your passport to customs agents before entering the country of Canada, there is no fee for this process but when you want to cross the same bridge back into the USA there is a .50 cent fee.
Walking across Rainbow Bridge takes under10 minutes, the time to show your passport to the agent at the Canadian border and the agents at the USA when returning to The United States of America cannot be determined as the time varies based on how many border agents or people trying to enter the country at any given time.
There are excellent views of Niagara Falls from both the USA and Canada, but they are both very different, the view of the falls from Canada shows a more natural less built up look, where as the view of Niagara Falls from the USA shows more of a city built up look.

Орёл и Решка. Перезагрузка. АМЕРИКА (Heads and Tails Reloaded. National September 11 Memorial).

Ithaca's Tent City THE JUNGLE: Living Homeless Sucks!
This past January, I vlogged a tour of Ithaca's infamous tent city called The Jungle [ It was freezing cold outside. So cold it's hard to imagine homeless men and women living outside in a tent yet approximately 40 people call the woods around Ithaca, New York home.
For some reason, I imagined a tour of the same tent encampments this time of year a little easier. I imagined homelessness during the summer months somewhat easier as if there is anything about living homeless is easy.
The mosquitoes were relentless. You can see welts increase on my face while I vlog. When I got home, there were bites all over my body. The darn things even bit me through my shirt. I am still itching. I cannot imagine the challenge of having to go to the bathroom outside.
The vlog I posted before this featured residents of Koreatown stepping up to take tangible actions to help their homeless neighbors [ This video is similar in many ways in that it features ordinary citizens assisting homeless people in their own community. The big difference is that Koreatown is in Los Angeles and Ithaca is a rural community that faces the challenges of rural homelessness.
Carmen Guidi of Second Wind Cottages is a superhero. He may have the biggest heart of anyone I know. Carmen is also pretty much the only help homeless people living in the tent camps around Ithaca have. Government is not helping. The faith community is not helping. Truth is, there is little support for homeless people to get out of homelessness in Tompkins County, New York.
Carmen owns an auto body shop. He is not a social worker. Carmen has no background in professional homeless services. He is not wealthy. Carmen simply cares for people but not with just words, he takes actions to do whatever he can to help his homeless friends in the Jungle.
In this video, Carmen shares why he started Second Wind Cottages almost six years ago. He also shares his thought about NIMBY and bunch of other brilliant ideas I hope you'll watch to the end to hear.
And yes I said BRILLIANT because to me Carmen is a genius! You'll hear throughout this video Carmen talk about other people who have an academic background. It doesn't take the smartest person to see that homeless people need housing, but only a person with extreme intelligence would actually do something about it. Carmen is the king of YIMBY because he built 15 (soon to be 18) cottages in his backyard. Carmen lives YES IN MY BACKYARD every single day!
It's inspirational seeing more regular every day people taking real actions to help fight homelessness. We need everyone to help. EVERYONE! That includes YOU!

About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they're on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can't ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation's most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath – its founder – and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America's homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.
