We don't really work a lot on farming in Djerba it's a problem of water and the young generation prefer to do easy jobs like going and working in the hotels and no longer doing the farming work.

If you want to look back into the history of pottery on Djerba, in 1937, not so long ago, almost 72 years ago there were 450 potters. There were at least 400 factories and 700 ovens. You see the number has fallen to about a tenth of that today.

There's a movement of the people, of the Djerbian people back to the land. Especially the people who lived in Tunis and they no longer bear the noise there, a lot of them come back to Djerba. Also young couples who have got children, and are frightened for their children, they are looking for a healthy environment for their children.
