Roadtrip Sierra Nevada | Granada, Andalucía | Costa del Sol, Southern Spain | MorningNhu
I visited Sierra Nevada ski and mountain resort in the early days of December 2019 when people were busy with year-end plans to welcome the new year 2020. A year ago, this time I was struggling with my 4th chemotherapy and currently I’m having the great winter vacation in Andalusia, southern Spain.
There are many famous attractions in Andalusia such as Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Seville … And in this article I want to recall the snow-covered mountains, steep winding roads, unspoiled canyons, specially the playful feeling when snowboarding for the first time in Sierra Nevada. I summarized the road trip from Malaga to Siera Nevada with the scenery on both sides of the road and the ski resort in the video.
Sierra Nevada is a mountain range in the Andalusia region, largely belong to the province of Granada. It is the highest mountain in Spain and Mulhacen is the highest peak with altitude of 3479 meters above sea level. This is a great place for those who love the outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and skiing in late November to April. Sierra Nevada is a paradise for snow lovers.

Travel to Granada: Skiing in Sierra Nevada, Andalucia I Vlog I Spain
First things first, Im so sorry I haven't uploaded for the past weeks. We have been on a long distance travel to the Philippines and there it was impossible to upload anything big. Then past week we have shooting in Cadiz, and for some sort of reason it was impossible too. So my apologies for that.
So, who would have thought you can travel to one of Spain´s hotest destinations and actually ski there, and not just a little ski, but a good quality one with long tracks and endless tapas on the Aprés Ski.
Well, you can and you would if you go to Sierra Nevada, belonging to Granada´s province (so you have the Albayzin just across) and being the second highest mountain in western Europe after the French alps (I didn't know that!).
Hope you enjoy our travels, as always, we did!
Cheers!
PS: A second and big I´m sorry, again, for the lousy sound. Had a problem with my audio recorder and couldn't do it any better.

Los Cahorros Walking Trail Sierra Nevada, Monachil, Granada, Spain
Monachil is a small village located 8 km from Granada. It is also a starting point for Los Cahorros – Hanging bridges walk.
This walk is perfect for families, hikers, nature lovers or anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors. Walk along the river, cross several hanging bridges, check out the amazing views, take photos of waterfalls, have a closer look at Moorish acequias (irrigation system) …
Note: Take plenty of water with you, a hat and sunblock. To walk up and back down the same route took us about 2.5 hours (we did take a lot of photos on our way). If you are planning on going with small kids, you will more likely need more than 3 hours.

Sierra Nevada en verano. Granada

10 Things to do in Granada, Spain Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Wrapping up our travels in Spain, our last city to visit was Granada. Set in Andalusia at the foot of the snow capped Sierra Nevada, this is a place where Moorish influence is palpable. From hilltop fortresses to Moroccan markets, and tranquil gardens to quaint teahouses, in this travel guide we’re going to show you some of the things you can do in Granada:
This Cathedral was as grand as you’d expect. The stark white interiors were a bit of a contrast to the ornate churches we had seen in other cities, but that just made your eyes travel towards a glowing, golden altar.
The Moroccan souk turned out to be one of our favourite spots in the city. The street was packed with tiny shops standing shoulder to shoulder, all filled with leather handbags, glass lamps, wool slippers, colourful scarves and pashminas and souvenirs.
We continued our way up the hill into Albayzín. This is one of the oldest centres of Muslim culture in Granada. The neighbourhood is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, white-houses with tiled roofs, and small courtyards sprinkled in between.
We made time to stop at one of the teterías, or teahouses. This was the perfect place to rest on a cold winter day and enjoy some afternoon treats.
You can find numerous Moroccan restaurants in this part of the city for food. One place we ate at on more than once occasion was Al-Faguara. They offered set menus for lunch featuring hummus, falafel, couscous, tajine, and of course, lots of baklava.
Let’s take a moment to talk about Granada’s main tourist attraction: the Alhambra!
The Alhambra is a massive complex of palaces, gardens and fortresses that once formed the citadel of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada, which was the last Muslim dynasty to rule along the Iberian Peninsula from the years 1230 to 1492.
This is the one attraction you can’t miss when you visit Granada, and you’ll want to book your tickets well in advance as they can sell out during high season.
We spent half a day touring the grounds during which time we visited the Nasrid Palaces, the Palace of Charles the Fifth, the Alcazaba, and the Generalife.
We decided to find a cafe where we could indulge in a delicious Spanish breakfast.
Another spot we explored in Granada is Carrerra del Darro, a small lane that runs along the Darro River at the base of the Alhambra. This street is lined with arched-stone bridges and historic buildings.
We’ll leave you with a few scenes of Granada at night and one last glimpse of the Alhambra lit up against the evening sky.
We hope you enjoyed this video and that you got ideas of things do in Granada on your own visit.
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

Skiing with a Sea View to Africa.
Spain's Sierra Nevada is Europe's most southerly ski region. It's also the only place where you can see the Mediterranean Sea and Africa from the slopes.
Had a perfect sunny ski day on the slopes, with incredible views in this world class ski resort.

Sierra Nevada, Sulayr la montaña del sol. Granada

Sierra Nevada Hiking Tour, Granada, Spain
Just outside of Granada is the Sierra Nevada mountains perfect for a day trip. Pick up a cheap city bus and in no time you are among an amazing canyon with sheer rock faces that opens up to an amazing valley.
Nerja - The Jewel of the Costa del Sol
Nerja is situated at the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, in the province of Malaga, 50 kilometres from the city of Malaga and within an hour and a half’s drive from Granada and the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada.
Sheltered by the impressive Sierra Almijara mountain range, this once sleepy fishing village is now one of the most popular tourist resorts along the coast, with a population of over 12,000. The town has resisted too much re-development and high rise apartment blocks, preferring to stay a charming seaside town, attracting the more discerning holidaymaker; the town is often referred to as the ‘’Jewel of the Costa del Sol’.
One of the town’s most impressive attractions is the Balcón de Europa (the Balcony of Europe), a wonderful promenade, stretching along the edge of a soaring cliff top, which was once the location of a Moorish castle. The platform has spectacular panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline, with its backdrop of mountains.
The deep Andalusian culture that the town exudes, perfect climate and cosmopolitan atmosphere, has made Nerja one of the most attractive holiday hotspots on the Costa del Sol.
