Signal Mountain murders
The Signal Mountain murders refers to a widely publicized case involving the 1988 slayings of Richard Mason, Kenneth Griffith, and Earl Smock near to Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States. Their bullet-ridden bodies and ATV's were found in the woods of Signal Mountain.
The three men had been riding along trails, portions of which crossed private property. Frank Casteel, a resident of the mountain, was eventually charged and convicted of murder. His conviction was reversed, but he was found guilty in a second trial and given three life sentences. His conviction was upheld in 2004.

I rode my Litespeed T5G gravel bike on pavement from the Little Brown Church toward the front of Signal Mountain. You can see views of Lookout Mountain, the Tennessee River, and downtown Chattanooga. The Appalachians are also off in the distance, but the day's a little hazy (early July afternoon) affecting visibility.

Buzzards Bluff in Harriman, Tennessee
Being raised in Harriman, I was able to visit what is known as Buzzards Bluff many times. It is located on Walden's Ridge. Walden Ridge (or Walden's Ridge) is a mountain ridge and escarpment located in Tennessee, in the United States. It marks the eastern edge of the Cumberland Plateau and is generally considered part of it. Walden Ridge is about 74 miles (119 km) long, running generally north-south. Its highest point is at Hinch Mountain (near Crossville), which reaches 3,048 feet (929 m) above sea level.
Sequatchie Valley, a long valley in the Cumberland Plateau, is located just west of the southern part of Walden Ridge. The Sequatchie River runs through the valley. To the east of Walden Ridge are the Ridge-and-valley Appalachians and the Tennessee River. Walden Ridge is significantly higher than the Cumberland Plateau, and its eastern slope, descending over 1,000 feet (300 m) from the plateau to the Tennessee Valley, is steep and escarpment-like. Sometimes Walden Ridge is called the Cumberland Escarpment. Geologically, Walden Ridge continues south in Georgia and Alabama as Sand Mountain.
The section of Walden Ridge that is visible from the Chattanooga area is often colloquially referred to as Signal Mountain due to the presence of the small town of Signal Mountain, Tennessee nearby, the proliferation of broadcasting towers on its eastern edge, and the area's use by early nineteenth century Native Americans (and later Civil War Soldiers) as a signal point toward Lookout Mountain south across the Tennessee River.
Being part of the Cumberland Plateau, Walden Ridge is also part of the Appalachian Plateau physiographic province.
According to the USGS, variant names of Walden Ridge include Waldens Ridge, Walldenns Ridge, Wallens Ridge, Walden's Ridge, and Walden Ridge Plateau.

Places to see in ( Chattanooga - USA )
Chattanooga, a city in southeastern Tennessee, is set along the Tennessee River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Its trolleylike Incline Railway scales steep Lookout Mountain before reaching Ruby Falls waterfall and Rock City, featuring sweeping views, sandstone formations and gardens. Point Park, also atop Lookout, marks the site of a Civil War battle now honored at the Battles for Chattanooga Museum.
The city, with a downtown elevation of approximately 680 feet (210 m), lies at the transition between the ridge-and-valley portion of the Appalachian Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau. Surrounded by mountains and ridges, the official nickname for Chattanooga is Scenic City, reinforced by the city's reputation for outdoor activities. Unofficial nicknames include River City, Chatt, Nooga, Chattown, and Gig City, referencing Chattanooga's claims that it has the fastest internet service in the Western Hemisphere.
Chattanooga is internationally known for the 1941 song Chattanooga Choo Choo by Glenn Miller and his orchestra. Chattanooga is home to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and Chattanooga State Community College. Downtown Chattanooga showcases a wide variety of entertainment, dining, cultural and architectural attractions. Since the completion of the Tennessee Aquarium in 1992, the downtown area has experienced a wide array of development projects, including the Creative Discovery Museum and the reopening of the historic Walnut Street Bridge (Chattanooga).
Chattanooga has many buildings on the National Register of Historic Places as well as three neighborhoods: Ferger Place, Fort Wood, and St. Elmo. Additionally, Chattanooga has several local historic districts: Battery Place, Fort Wood, Ferger Place, Glenwood, Missionary Ridge, M.L. King, St. Elmo, and Stringer's Ridge. Four of these are formally managed as local historic districts by the city.
