The Secrets of Silbury Hill: NEW HYPOTHESIS | Ancient Architects
#SilburyHill is the largest artificial mound in Europe. It is thought to have been built over a short period of time between 2,470 and 2,350 BC and is one of the most intriguing monuments in the prehistoric landscape of the #Avebury World Heritage Site in England.
To this day, nobody can say with any certainty what its purpose and significance was and why it was built in a valley. In this video, I attempt to unravel the mystery of Silbury Hill and explain why I think the origins of the mound may not be as you expect.

Avebury in Wiltshire, England is a massive stone circle surrounded by a massive ditch and bank. This neolithic wonder is from around 3000BC and is one of the finest prehistoric sites in Europe.
Less than 20 miles from Stonehenge, Avebury is a massive ceremonial complex around 3 miles long. Avebury is located near the centre of the famous St Michael ley line which flows through the site.
Some other sites near by are Silbury Hill, The Sanctuary and West Kennet Long Barrow.

Evening Flight around Stonehenge, Silbury Hill & Avebury Stone Circle, (within CAA rules)
All done within CAA rules.... A late evening, 360 degree flight around the iconic Stonehenge, with some additional amazing shots of the enormous Avebury Stone Circle, West Kennet Avenue and Silbury Hill, the largest manmade mound in the world, estimated to have taken 500 men a full 15 years to construct, providing a direct line of sight to Stonehenge and Avebury.
The CAA confirm that landowners cannot impose their own airspace regulations any more than you can impose a speed limit outside your own house. The CAA regulates airspace, no one else. This means the landowner can prohibit you taking off, operating and landing but cannot prohibit you flying over, anymore they could a paraglider or hit air balloon.
That said, respecting English Heritage's wish, I waited until around closing time to ensure visitors weren't bothered in any way. Remember to always fly with the greatest consideration for others who won't be enjoying the amazing views you get!

I'm walking on the footpath towards Silbury Hill. It is the biggest artificial hill in Europe made about 5000 years ago.
Silbury hill is still an enigma for today's science.
Scientists still don't understand its purpose, what people built it and how, according to the neolitic period where no such thing could be done.
It is a high energy place.

White Horses, Stone Circles, Burial Chambers......why would you want to visit this stuff?
.....well partly because it is our history but also because it takes you off the route that every tourist takes and shows you something off the beaten track !
Wiltshire has many historic and prehistoric sites like Stonehenge but the area around Avebury is particularly interesting. Avebury itself has a large number of standing stones and the circle of earthworks around the village is the largest in Europe - it was built 5500 years ago.
Silbury Hill is just a mile away and is the largest man-made hill in Europe, built for we know not what, 3500 years ago.
West Kennet Long Barrow is close by, just a 15 minute walk across the fields and is an impressive burial chamber - again 5500 years old.
Wiltshire's White Horses were carved into the chalk hillside - mostly 200-350 years ago usually to commemorate something or just to show off!
The Devizes White Horse is the last to be cut - for the Millennium and the Uffington White Horse, nearby in Oxfordshire, is the oldest and thought to have been cut about 3500 years ago and is only completely visible from above - spooky !!
So a day out to see these iconic Wiltshire areas of interest will take you into beautiful villages and through the beautiful Marlborough and Berkshire Downs (Hills) - an area that you would not have seen had you just visited the locations where you can expect to see throngs of other tourists!!
A big part of what I like to see is to show people the things that are on their bucket list and then to show them the places they know nothing about but which I know will delight!

Avebury, Silbury Hill & Some Old Crop Circles
Avebury rivals Stonehenge as the most impressive and complex ancient site in Britain. Avebury is a huge circular bank and ditch, roughly 375 meters across, estimated to be 4500 years old.. Within this 'henge' ditch is an inner circle of great standing stones, enclosing two more stone circles, each with a central feature. The countryside is swallowing up other sites nearby.
Silbury Hill is a mound with a 5 acre base and is 39.6m (130ft) high and is the tallest man made mound in Europe...(maybe). It took an estimated 18 million man hours to build.
Crop circles have popped up frequently in this area and l found a few without even looking for them.

Follow me on my hike from Silbury Hill to West Kennet Long Barrow. Two neolithic prehistoric sites in the south west of England.
Nobody knows why the hill is there. No settlements or tombs were found on the site. However the well-kept burial ground of West Kennet Long Barrow is open for all. You can even walk right inside of the tomb.

Silbury Hill is the largest man-made mound in Europe.
At least 4,200 years old, its purpose is as mysterious as the people who built it.
Silbury Hill was a part of the Avebury landscape, with the stone circle less than a mile farther north, West Kennet Long Barrow around half a mile south, and the quarry and The Sanctuary about 1.5 miles east.
Not only are there many megalithic structures in the surrounding area, but it is also home to 90% of the world's crop circles and a large amount of UFOs and other paranormal activity. It is a magical landscape and the area is as weird as it is beautiful.
Unfortunately my camera was slightly out of focus and I also need a proper microphone to cut out wind interference. I do intend to become a little more professional with these videos once I have better equipment in place.
