Exploring the vast lakes around it is another.
#SilentLake Provincial Park is located in eastern Ontario near Bancroft, Ontario. It occupies an area of 1,450 hectares of the Canadian Shield.
Only a few hours from Toronto this place is definitely on my list of top places to camp near Toronto.

Silent Lake Provincial Park 2016
In July 2016 we packed up the kids and car and went to Silent Lake Provincial Park in Bancroft, Ontario.
Provincial Park Adventure - Silent Lake - Lakeshore Trail, Lunch and Tricks - Ep 5
Episode 5 of our provincial park adventure finds us hiking one of the trails at Silent Lake Provincial Park, which is located near Bancroft, Ontario.
Chloe the Foxhound leads the way, right into the small stream for a quick drink before getting on the Lakehead Loop Trail (which is part of the Lakeshore trail). I don't think we ever got onto the loop because we preferred to stay near the shoreline.
We looked for trolls under waterless bridges, checked out several spots along the shoreline to try to spot loons and fish, as well as to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. The trail wasn't too strenuous, although I'm sure if we had done the 15 kilometres we wouldn't have thought that!
Near the end of our hike, we found a bench along the water's edge and shared our blueberries and wraps with Chloe before heading into Buckhorn to visit with friends.
Join us next Thursday for a video featuring the relaxing sounds of a gentle stream - part of our Nature's Beauty series and also from Silent Lake Provincial Park.

Silent Lake Provincial Park's Lakehead Loop Trail (Early October 2017)
While it is technically autumn 2017 in southern Ontario, the fall colour change has been temporarily halted. The Bancroft area is no exception. The warm summer temperatures have slowed down the transformation, meaning leaf-bearing trees have remained mainly green into early October. Past videos of Silent Lake Provincial Park featured either some portions of the Lakeshore or Bonnie's Pond Trails. This video features the Lakehead Loop, which is a brief detour from the Lakeshore Trail, over some granite ledges.

Very bright interior with open concept kitchen, living room & dining room, foyer, office area, 2 bathrooms, spacious bedrooms, walkout basement with rec room and lots of storage space. Master bedroom overlooking the lake has large windows offering panoramic view and perfect for star gazing at night. Nice covered front deck off dining room, plus covered porch on roadside. In 2004 the home was completely renovated with an addition and new furnace, oil tank and septic. Great, kid friendly shoreline with upper and lower docks ( lower dock need some TLC) Baptiste has 34 miles of waterways for all your boating and fishing pleasure.
Bell Bay Provincial Park
A quick trip back-country camping to Bark Lake in the fall. What a lovely amazingly quiet spot. Ah :( we missed filming us drying our feet out at the camp fire.We were quite wet and our shoes were steaming from the heat.
The date stamp on the photos is wrong I think I need to change that.
But what a great place!!
Summer Scenes at Silent Lake Provincial Park: Featuring Streams and Waterfalls (July 2017)
The bulk of this video consists of video footage of the series of rapids and waterfalls along Silent Creek, which flows west out of Silent Lake. Those who endure the roar of the waterfalls and watch the video until the end will be rewarded with quieter scenes on a smaller stream a short distance north, along the Lakeshore Trail.
This video was shot during the second week of July, 2017, southwest of Bancroft, ON.
Silent Lake to Lake St. Peter (Mini Adventure Day5)
I leave Silent Lake, and (try to) take the Hasting's Heritage Trail all the way to Lake St. Peter.
Summer Scenes Along the Bonnie's Pond Trail (Silent Lake Provincial Park - July 2015)
Bonnie's Pond Trail is located at the eastern end of Silent Lake Provincial Park, located southwest of Bancroft, Ontario. There are several highlights on this scenic hiking trail. Such highlights include Bonnie's Pond itself, a small body of water located just north of Silent Lake. A beaver pond can also be seen near Bonnie's Pond, with the beaver dam clearly visible. Another highlight is a scenic lookout over beautiful Silent Lake, which can be found by taking an optional detour from the trail. This brief detour is a 600 m round trip. A series of small waterfalls can also be found near the end of the trail.
While there are many interesting geographical features on the trail, the variety of flora and fauna that can be found along the way also make the hike enjoyable. Many ferns were visible, as well as many beech trees. Chipmunk holes are plentiful, which makes a spotting of the forest-dwelling mammal very easy in certain areas. Dragonflies were easy to spot along the Bonnie's Pond shoreline, as well as some other low-lying areas. Various types of fungi were also easy to find.
This video was shot in Haliburton County, Ontario in mid-July, 2015.
Silent Lake: Fall Scenes, Part 2 (Waterfall and Stream Scenes)
This series of video clips features many waterfall and stream scenes, in autumn, during the peak of leaf colour change. These clips were shot at Silent Lake Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada in early October, 2014. At the beginning of the Lakeshore Hiking Trail, there is a small stream the trail crosses. It runs west from its source, nearby Silent Lake. During its course, there are a few small waterfalls.
The small waterfalls seen in this video, along with the large amount of leaves both along and inside the stream, make for a stunning natural scene during the fall. The landscape where these waterfalls exist are typical of rocky, Canadian Shield topography. Silent Lake Provincial Park is located between Bancroft and Apsley, Ontario.

Silent Lake: Fall Scenes, Part 1 (Along The Lake)
These are a series of clips, shot at Silent Lake Provincial Park in early October, 2014. This first series of clips shows typical autumn scenes along the Lakeshore Hiking Trail, which also contain various views of Silent Lake itself. Silent Lake Provincial Park is located in the southeastern portion of Haliburton County, between Bancroft and Apsley, Ontario.
