Today Marq English and I are off to investigate the wonders of the Silent Pool, a place where many pagans come to worship.
Silent Pool is a spring-fed lake at the foot of the North Downs, about 4 miles east of Guildford in Surrey. It is managed together with the nearby Newlands Corner by the Surrey Wildlife Trust, within the privately owned Albury Estate. The outflow from Silent Pool runs into a second, adjacent, lake, Sherbourne Pond, created in the mid-seventeenth century. In turn the outflow from the Sherbourne Pond feeds the Sherbourne Brook, a tributary of the Tilling Bourne.

Silent Pool: How we make our Gin
The Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, is now also home to the Silent Pool Distillers. Located on the Duke of Northumberland’s Albury Estate, the distillery takes its name from the mythical, spring-fed pool from which it draws its water. It is our mission to create high quality, small batch, artisanal spirits of the very highest quality, using only the finest local ingredients.
