Silent Valley - The wondrous winner from Kerala!
Located in Palakkad district, Kerala, the Silent Valley National Park is home to the largest population of Lion-tailed Macaque. Ceylon Frog Moth, Great Indian Hornbill, the Nilgiri Laughing Thrush can be also found here. The river Kunthi that passes through, never turns brown and is always crystal clear.

The Meenachil river flows through the heart of Kottayam.The river, 78KM long, flows through Poonjar, Teekoy, Erattupetta, Palai, Ettumanoor and Kottayam before emptying itself into the Vembanad Lake at Kumarakom, the famous tourist place of Kerala.The Meenachil river is formed by several streams originating from the Western Ghats.
It is also called Gauna Nadi, Kavanar and Valanjar. The name Meenachil comes from Goddess Meenakshi of Madurai, the deity of the ruling Karthas of Meenachil. Meenakshi became Meenachi and later Meenachil. According to legends this river starts from the Kamandalu of great sage Gauna Maharshi like the river Kaveri from Agasthya Maharshi's Kamandalu. Hence this river got the name Gauna Nadi. Gauna Maharshi filled his Kamandalu with Sapthanadi Theertham (water from the 7 holy rivers -Ganga,Yamuna, Saraswathy,Sindhu, Narmmada,Godavari and Kaveri).
The river is also mentioned in the Booker Prize winning book The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. The story is centred around the Aymanam village through which the Meenachil river flows.
The Quiet resort by the river - Kerala
The Quiet by the River is a resort in a river island in the Periyar river close to Cochin airport in Kerala, India. Located 29 km (less than 1 hour) from the Cochin airport, ‘The Quiet’ is a uniquely scenic resort situated in the Malayattoor forest range. Downstream of the Bhoothathankettu dam, the Periyar splits into a few rivulets and the main river and forms 8 to 10 islands.
‘The Quiet’ is located on the larger of these islands and has the gurgling Periyar river on all sides. Downstream, the Periyar passes by Alwaye before draining into the Lakshwadeep Sea, on the west coast of India.
The Salim Ali bird sanctuary is located close to the resort and the area enjoys sightings of various rare varieties of birds.

#ItsTheWayYouSeeIt is a campaign to promote #RiverNila (Bharatapuzha basin passing through Thrissur, Malappuram & Palakkad districts in central & North Kerala in India) as a destination. Kerala is well known as a destination for domestic and inbound travel. In Kerala there lies a stretch of 249 kms long river with unique cultural and natural heritage. From birth of Malayalam language to being part of hottest hot-spots of biological diversity in the world, (Silent Valley which falls under this region is a UNESCO world natural heritage site) this river bed and it's civilisation represents the best of cultural and natural biodiversity.
This campaign was part of a photo journey with travel photographer Ajay Menon and Founder of The Blue Yonder, Gopinath Parayil, ( who initiated Responsible Tourism in India / Kerala twelve years ago) along the banks of River Nila during the invigorating Monsoon. It was an opportunity to see the monsoon through a photographers’ eyes, take portraits of real people, document artists in their act and witness how the river and land transform as the monsoon take over.
The trip began on top of Nelliyampathy hills and it's lush rain forest and traversed through lands where Nila is more a culture than a river. We met people whose livelihood are connected to Nila. Experienced the cultures the river had nurtured. Encountered rare art forms and craftsmanship. Spent time with the artists and their families and friends. Listened to magical myths. We were entertained by stories of the river and from the river. We printed many visual memoir of the journey through the photographs we clicked. A story that will stay close to our heart, all our life.

നിത്യഹരിത നിബിന്ധ വനമാണ് പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ സൈലന്റ് വാലി. രാവിലെ 8. 30 നാണ് മുക്കാലിയുള്ള സൈലന്റ് വാലി ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് സെന്ററിലെത്തിയത്. അഞ്ചു പേര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു ജീപ്പ് എന്ന നിലയിലാണ് വനം വകുപ്പ് സൈലന്റ് വാലിയിലേക്ക് വാഹനം അയ്ക്കുന്നത്. 2000 രൂപയാണ് അതിനുള്ള ഫീസ്. ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് ജീപ്പ് വാടകയ്‌ക്കെടുത്ത് പോകാം. അതിനും 2000 രൂപയാകും. തനിച്ചാണ് വന്നത് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ കാത്തിരുന്നാല്‍ ചിലപ്പോള്‍ വേറെ ആളുകള്‍ വരുമെന്നും അവരുടെ കൂടെ
പോകാമെന്ന് ഓഫീസില്‍ നിന്നും അറിയിച്ചു.

Marmala Waterfall lies a few kilometres away from Erattupetta, in Kottayam district, Kerala, India inside a private estate[1], [2]. It is exactly 8 km from Teekoy. The road from Mangalagiri to Marmala Waterfall is currently under construction and solling is completed recently only. Once reaching the base station, one has to trek through the estate over the slippery rocky path inorder to reach the waterfalls. Marmala waterfall is about 60 metres in height, falling into a 12-meter deep pool and joins the River Teekoy way down
