Jjimjilbang (찜질방): Visiting a Korean Spa and Sauna in Seoul (목욕탕 - 실로암 사우나)
Nothing is a more immersive Korean cultural experience than to visit a Korean Jjimjilbang (찜질방) also known as a Korean bathhouse (목욕탕) and/or Korean sauna (사우나).
In this travel video from Seoul, South Korea we take you to our favorite Korean Jjimjilbang - Silloam Fire Pot Sauna ((실로암불가마사우나). Located from within walking distance of Seoul station this 24 hour Korean bath house is kind of known as my home away from home considering I've been going there almost daily.
Audrey, on the other hand, was a total Jjimjilbang newbie, and I had no idea how she would react to her first experience. Although she avoided the naked sauna section, my favorite part of the whole experience, we ventured upstairs to floors two through five to experience all of the unisex areas including the traditional Korean restaurant, snack bar, lounging and sleeping areas and rooms, gym, arcade, PC bang and sleeping caves.
The procedure for entering a sauna is always the same. First you pay at the counter, where you're handed your outfit, before entering the male or female changing room where you remove your shoes and place them into a small shoe locker. Once you retrieve the key from that locker you greet another attendant who hands you a key for your main locker where you change your clothes by either stripping down naked or putting on your shorts and t-shirt.
In the naked sauna bathing area you can go from various kinds of saunas (jade to minerals), steam rooms, hot tubs and showers.
When you get hungry consider trying any of the following Korean food staples found at a Korean Jjimjilbang:
식혜 (Sikhye) Korean sweet rice drink
팥빙수 (Patbingsu) Korean dessert with shaved ice, beans, fruit & syrup
미역국 (Miyeokguk) Korean seaweed soup
맥반석 계란 (Gyeran): slow cooked baked Korean eggs
Overall a stay at a Korean Jjimjilbang shouldn't cost more than ₩10,000 (day) to ₩15,000 (night). Be sure to check it out!

Jjimjilbang (찜질방): Visiting a Korean Spa and Sauna in Seoul (목욕탕 - 실로암 사우나) Travel Video Transcript:
Well hello hello. For today's video we're going to take you to a Jjimjilbang (찜질방) which is a Korean bathhouse and spa.
Yeah, so this Korean sauna (사우나) is really popular - especially on the weekends with families. People of all ages. So we're going to give you a complete tour aside from the naked parts.
Yeah, because there is more to a bath house than just scrubbing down and getting naked. Apparently, they also have rooms where you can nap, watch Korean dramas, eat food. So we're going to show you all of that.
And the place we're taking you is probably one of the most famous bathhouses in all of Seoul. And it is massive. There is basically five floors. So we're going to give you a really good tour of that. Let's go.
So we've been in the Jjimjilbang for a few hours and I think we're ready to wrap up the experience. This was my first time here and it was pretty cool. Even though I didn't go in the showers or the sauna. Maybe next time. Maybe next time. Well, I got the full experience here and I have to say for the price you pay it is only ₩10,000. Ten thousand Korean Won. Which is about roughly say about nine US dollars.
Just a bit over that. It is incredible value. Like I think something like this maybe in North America or Europe might be fifty or one hundred dollars. So to be able to come here for such a cheap price and experience all of these cool rooms and get full access for the sauna and Jjimjilbang.
It kind of feels like you're going to a hotel for the weekend. Or like a spa. It really does Yeah, so you're just very relaxed and lounging around. It is a pretty cool experience. You can see why it is so popular here in Korea and if you find yourself traveling in Seoul or anywhere in Korea, because you can find these all over Korea, definitely check out a Korean sauna, Korean bathhouse and Korean Jjimjilbang.

Hallyu World - Jjimjilbang Korean Sauna 独特的韩国桑拿汗蒸幕 [CN/EN SUB]
*** English Subtitles
Seoul Day 3 Korean Spa (Jimjjilbang) and Seoul Stream (Cheonggyecheon)
Last full day in South Korea and I've decided to visit a Jimjillbang or a Korean Spa. It was cheap to get in the Spa and you can stay for as long as 12 hours (at that time). Staying in a Jimjjilbang is quite good actually if you arrive in Seoul and your hotel isn't ready yet. The spa has a gym, lounge area a restaurant and other things that will keep you busy, though you'd have to pay for each of them separately.
After spending half of the day in the JImjillbang I headed out to the Cheonggyecheon or Seoul Stream. It was previously covered by a highway but was then rehabilitated in an effort to reintroduce nature to the city.

Bulgama Sauna - Wi Spa
The Bulgama Sauna is Wi Spa’s hottest sauna. At over 200 degrees the Bulgama effectively helps remove the toxins from your body, reduces blood pressure, removes damaging bacteria that often rest in your body to have an overall cleansing effect. We recommend using the Bulgama sauna for about 20 minutes at a time 2-3 times a week to have you feeling your best!

Korea Trip is Over! Korean Sauna Experience + Flying Home to Canada
My Korea trip is over! Come join us for a Korean sauna experience at Siloam Jjimjilbang where I have my final meal in Korea (Dolsot Bibimbap) and give you a tour of the premises. After relaxing at the sauna for a bit I head back to my apartment in Seoul to give you a brief tour before heading to the airport by metro to catch my Air Canada flight back home to Canada.
Overall the two weeks I had in Korea was the biggest travel surprise of the year. I'd wanted to revisit Korea but didn't think it would be possible this year. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu as I got to eat all of my favorite foods, try a few new dishes and visit places I had never been to before.
If you're thinking of taking a trip to Korea I'd highly recommend it. Now that our Korea series is over you can look forward to videos from us coming out from Canada, Argentina and India. It will be nice to have Audrey back on the channel again after a long absence. We're really excited about what we have coming out soon.

Korea Trip is Over! Korean Sauna Experience + Flying Home to Canada:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a vlogging travel couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
Our most recent trip was to South Korea where I embarked upon a two-week adventure without Audrey. Invited as part of a YouTube vlogging trip, organized by KTO, I spent the first week traveling with other YouTubers in Seoul, Busan and Gyeongju. My second week included independent exploration of Korea with my good friend and fellow YouTuber David of DavidsBeenHere.
Having lived and traveled in South Korea, the chance to return to one of my favorite countries was one of the biggest surprises of 2019. On this particular trip, I had an opportunity to do many things I had not previously covered including a visit to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone between South Korea and North Korea), a Buddhist Temple Stay and a Korean cooking class. It was almost as if the program designed by KTO knew exactly what I had missed out on before.
Obviously, a huge highlight from the two weeks I spent revisiting Korea was the food. I feasted on all of my favorite Korean dishes including Korean barbecue, dolsot bibimbap, haemul pajeon, tteokbokki, bulgogi, kimbap and many others. I can honestly say that Korean food is world-class and is one of my top 5 favorite cuisines in the world. Aside from trying familiar dishes, I had the opportunity to sample raw Korean seafood for the first time.
While visiting Seoul, highlights included going to Gyeongbokgung Palace, Namsan Seoul Tower, Jogyesa Temple and Hongdae. As one of the biggest cities in the world, I barely scratched the surface of things to do in Seoul.
Spending extended time in Busan was my favorite part about the trip with top highlights including a Korean temple stay, fresh fish markets and a Korean baseball game. It was from Busan that we ended up taking a day-trip to Daegu where we enjoyed a traditional Korean market and tried Galbi-Jjim for the first time.
If you want to see more videos from Korea in the future, let us know in the comments what places you'd like us to travel to and what food experiences you'd like to see on this travel channel.

Honestly I had no idea what to call this video - best jimjilbang for travellers, best sauna for travellers, best korean spa for travellers or best overnight sauna for travellers - and Im sure I will change my mind many many times before I actually post this video, so whatever title I ended up on I hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless!
This isn't a particularly famous or well visited jimjilbang - which is a kind of korean sauna or korean spa - however it does have many many qualities that make it the single best sauna for travellers in seoul. Best place to stay, great facilities and so many more reasons, but really;
All the reasons I listed in the video are my major concerns when I was looking for a jimjilbang like this and I often have friends ask me which sauna I personally use when I am travelling in Seoul - so I thought I would make the video to explain exactly why I outinely use this one.
If you do see me in the sauna, please say hello! (though maybe not when I'm naked!)
