Silpakorn University, Sanamchandra Palace in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand
Sanam Chan Palace in Nakhon Pathom is suitable to be the location of Silpakorn University with an abundance of Thai style architecture making it an idol space as a university campus.
Silpakorn University is presently under the supervision of the Office of the Higher Education Commission, the Ministry of Education and was originally established as the School of Fine Arts under the Fine Arts Department in 1933. Its inception and development owed much to an almost lifetime devotion of Professor Silpa Bhirasri, an Italian sculptor (previously called Professor Corrado Feroci) who was commissioned during the reign of King Rama VI to work in the Fine Arts Department.
Silpakorn University also extends the educational capacity through establishing a new campus in Phetchaburi Province for promoting the higher education in the western Provinces of Thailand since 1997 and the new campus was named “Phetchaburi Information Technology Campus”.
In addition, Silpakorn University also maintains a Graduate School established since 1972 to facilitate and responsible for all offering graduate programs at Silpakorn University.

Ready, Set, Go Contemporary Exhibition 25 Feb to 27 Mar 2015 at the Main Hal of the Art Centre, Silpakorn University
Artist talk : Mongkut Art Exhibition By Arin Rungjang with Kamol Phaosavasdi
Exhibition is on view between 12 January to 24 February 2018.
(Mon to Fri 9 am to 7 pm and Sat 9 am to 4 pm, closed on Sun and public holidays.)
Mongkut puts one of Thailand’s cherished symbolic forms at the axis of his inquiry. Rungjang’s research recalls Franco-Thai relations during the parallel reigns of King Rama IV (1851–68) and Napoleon III (1852–70), a period marked by the expansion of the European colonial enterprise in much of the geographic region known today as Southeast Asia. On June 27, 1861 the second replica was offered to Napoleon III by the Siamese ambassador at the Château de Fontainebleau.
In the video installation and sculpture Mongkut, Rungjang uses the present as a context for reopening a little-known history concerning Siam’s relative sovereignty.
The exhibition was held at The Jeu de Paume, the Maison d'Art Bernard Anthonioz and The CAPC Musee d'Art Contemporarain de Bordeaux, France in 2015 and Kyoto City University of Arts Art Gallery @KCUA, Japan, in 2017.

Behind the Photos : Artist's Talk by Lek Kiatsirikajorn and Stephanie Borcard/Nicolas Metraux
A contemporary photography exhibition by Lek Kiatsirikajorn and Stephanie Borcard / Nicolas Metraux, which recorded what was happening in Thailand through the eyes of Thai and foreign artists. Sometimes memories are worth to keep, but sometimes they should be forgotten. This exhibition illustrates different stories but both lies upon memory, either need to be memorized or forgotten.
Lek Kiatsirikajorn expressed the pain that Thai society has faced from the big flood in 2011. That natural disaster has taken away life and happiness of the Thais. Despite the fact that they are just photographs, they truly portray sorrow caused by political corruption and benefits. The breath of the survivor could be heard from the photos.
Stephanie Borcard & Nicolas Metraux are Swiss photographers residing in Bangkok, Thailand. They recorded the lives of patients with Alzeimer from a nursing home in Chiang Mai province, found by a Swiss citizen, Martin Woodtli whose mother also suffered from this disease. All residents are foreign elderly who face problems of memory loss at different levels. This place is home to lives that live only day to day without memory to past nor present, no matter how much they wanted to remember.
This exhibition presents simple stories with great pain for Thai society, both have occurred and another is occurring. Works shown in this exhibition present a contradict conversation about memory - the wish to forget but remember, and the wish to remember but forget.

BTS Komkrit Tepthian and His Blissful Spirits
Komkrit Tepthian, another native Thai artist to be featuring his works in the upcoming Bangkok Art Biennale, has a deep spiritual communication in his artwork. Born in Suphanburi, northwest of the capital, and educated in Bangkok at Silpakorn University, he is most recognised for his works in religious sculptures. With a keen interest in the conflicts between modern and more traditional beliefs, his creations fuse together these ideologies in an expressive yet easily digestible way. In the process of creating his latest piece for BAB, we were able to meet up with him to discover what he has planned for his first Bangkok Art Biennale.
