If he's not doing that he's likely packing out the Roxy with another sold-out show. Victor's music combines highly original, image-packed vignettes with the roots and blues traditions of the American South. Musicologist, ace photographer, and founder of the ukulele hotline, Victor Anthony is identified on the Gabriola Island culture map as a local treasure. Victor Anthony was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1952 and started using a Brownie camera as a young boy. Victor Anthony began serious study of photography in 1978 when he discovered the classic slice-of-life images coming out of the Magnum collective of photojournalists founded by Robert Capa and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Victor Anthony and his wife Joëlle Anthony immigrated to Canada in 2007, settling on Gabriola. His first one-man show was held at Artworks in 2010, and last summer he led an interactive photography workshop in Poetry Gabriola's new yurt

How to get to the Gulf Islands ~ Float Plane Mudge Island Susan McGougan ????
There are NO ferries to Mudge Island and this is what makes living here so appealing. #Off-the-Grid
Some people have private float planes or charter Harbour Air Seaplanes to bring them over.
You can take your own boat from Gabriola Island or Nanaimo.
It is that simple!

Van Isle 360 Set to Sail
NANAIMO - Skippers and their crews are preparing to circumnavigate Vancouver Island in the eighth bi-annual Telus Van Isle 360.
The race is 580 nautical miles through some of the world's most challenging waters.
The yachts take off tomorrow morning from Nanaimo.
The city is hosting the racers - preparing to give them a warm island sendoff.
Boats arrived all day Friday and crews were making sure everything was ship-shape. The challenging race that runs every other year, started in 1999 and is now attracting some of the top sailors in the pacific northwest.
Vancouver's Blast Performance Sailing is the new owner of the race and with that ownership change - $25,000 dollars is being donated to Jeneece Place. For their part, Tom Harris Cellular is matching that amount.
The race starts and finishes in Nanaimo, and that brings in significant dollars to local hotels, restaurants and other businesses.
