Shownotes
Michael Sugich: 00:00 If you understand that you're supposed to be in Tawba, that this is the, this is part of your nature, is this, this sense of turning. Um, it's, it's an essential part of any kind of spiritual life you have to be in Tawba. It's it turning, it's not the, the repentance, you know, uh, this idea of repentance is like, you know, repent, you know, of all of your sins. Yes. Ideally you would be great if you could stop doing all the stuff that is keeping you back. But that isn't how things work. It's a constant process. And if you can accept that and, and the, the way that you, you achieve that is through remembering our law, returning to our law. Remember Allah, uh, you know, uh, Illah be Dhikri, Lahita, Atman Qulub. If the remembrance of Allah makes the heart peaceful. So if you remember Allah constantly, that's your tool for getting out. You know, Islam is Islam. When you die, you don't have Islam anymore as, as a practical tool that's, that's done. Islam is for your life. So use it. It's a, it's like a tool box. And if you don't use the tools, you won't build anything. But the, and the, the primary tools are remembering them.
Tanzim: 01:41 [inaudible] welcome back to another episode of boys in the cave. My name is tanzim your solo cohost. Actually, sorry, not solo cohost was meant to be, but Alhamdullilah we actually have a very special, um, cohost with us. So Peter, Gould for you guys who've checked out our previous episodes. Peter, we actually interviewed him, designer, um, runs a firm, does his amazing stuff. So he's actually joining me in the cave today, but humble la. In terms of our special guests, we have Michael [inaudible]. So Michael Souk CGH has studied a Sufi doctrine and practice with the spiritual masters across the Arab and Islamic world. He has been a professional writer and communications advisor for 40 years and has written three books including signs of the horizons and also his latest book release his heart turn sinners seekers, saints and the road to redemption. He's the cofounder of successful public relations practice and has advised corporate leaders, senior religious figures and politicians. So asalamu walaykum Peter Gould and Michael Sugich and welcom to boys in the cave. [inaudible] anytime. Alhamdullilah, I know you've, I think you landed about two days ago here in Sydney. So would this be your first time in Sydney, Australia or have you personally I've never been here before. Paula. And what's been your experience so far?
Michael Sugich: 03:01 It's lovely. It's very relaxed. Uh, I enjoy it very much. It, it has a, there's a certain, it looks a little bit, if you look at the street level and it looks like America, then you start looking at the houses and the architecture and it's different. So it's a kind of an interesting mix of uh, uh, styles. I feel very comfortable here. Some all of the weather too. It's great.
Tanzim: 03:27 Yeah. It's um, yeah. I want to actually ask you about the weather cause it's a bit unique compared to, um, wherever we've tried. Maybe I think you, you said you went to UK previously. UK is a lot different to here.
Michael Sugich: 03:39 Yeah, very much, very much. I um, the UK is a kind of second home for me, so I'm very used to it. But the weather systems there are very, it's very, in the winter it's very dark and closed in....

The Lindsay Shepherd Affair: Update
I'm sure many of you remember Lindsay Shepherd, the teaching assistant at Wilfred Laurier University who was subjected to an unwarranted inquisition after showing a video of me debating Nicholas Matte about Bill C16.
In her statement of claim (which I read in its totality in this video), Shepherd notes that her mistreatment continued unabated at Wilfred Laurier, despite the university's hypothetical apology and offer to mend its ways. She also claimed that she has been rendered unemployable as an academic (a claim I believe, having served on many university search committees, and knowing full well that any whiff of scandal is enough to disquality a candidate entirely).
I talked to her lawyer after reading her claim, and decided that I would also pursue Wilfred Laurier and the professors and administrators directly responsible for this debacle.
I am not convinced that Wilfred Laurier learned what needed to be learned even after being dragged through the national and international press, in what was the biggest scandal that ever hit a Canadian university.
Maybe two lawsuits will help rectify that. We'll see.
NOTE: The allegations in these statements of claim are simply that, at this stage. They have not been tested in a court of law, and cannot therefore be considered proved.

LYRICS:
Give it all you've got
Don't drown in your own sorrows
Life will shoot you down
But you must move forwards
Open the book
Turn the page to chapter one
An endless space journey to the center of the sun
A reason to go on
A circus presentation
This is our demonstration
Of endless motivation
Sometimes this may all feel like one big war
With your stomach weak and your head sore
When the sins of your past
Pave the road to your future
Every regret is keeping you alive
You're not a scar
You're nothing less than a shining star
A glowing vibrance
Only seen from afar
Take a stand
Make amends
Take a chance
And stay true to yourself
Make them remember your name
Trying to bury the past
May seem impossible
Carry this burden around with you because
A boy who won't stand up for himself
Becomes a man who won't stand up for anything
So come on give it all you've got
Don't drown in your own sorrows
Life will shoot you down
But you must move forwards
A reason to go on
A circus presentation
This is our demonstration
Of endless motivation

Xena's Lucy Lawless & Renee O'Connor Fan Expo Canada - Full Panel
Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor -- best known for their iconic roles on the TV series Xena: Warrior Princess (1995–2001) -- entertain fans who gathered to see them at the 2018 Fan Expo Canada in Toronto by answering their questions and sharing funny behind-the-scenes stories.
Xena: Warrior Princess is an American fantasy television series filmed on location in New Zealand. The series aired in syndication from September 4, 1995 until June 18, 2001. It has been praised by critics for its strong female protagonist and has since acquired a strong cult following, attention in fandom, parody, and academia, and has influenced the direction of other television series. The series narrative follows 'Xena' (played by Lucy Lawless), an infamous warrior on a quest to seek redemption for her past sins against the innocent by using her formidable fighting skills to now help those who are unable to defend themselves. Xena is accompanied by 'Gabrielle' (played by Renee O'Connor), who during the series changes from a simple farm girl into an Amazon warrior and Xena's comrade-in-arms; her initial naiveness helps to balance Xena and assists her in recognizing and pursuing the greater good.
Lucille Frances Lawless, MNZM (born March 29th, 1968) is a New Zealander actress and singer. She also portrayed 'Number Three' on the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series (2005–2009) and 'Lucretia' on Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010), its prequel Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011) and its sequel Spartacus: Vengeance (2012). Lawless had recurring roles as 'Diane Lewis' on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation (2012–2015), and as 'Countess Palatine Ingrid Von Marburg' on the WGN America supernatural series Salem (2015). She also starred as Ruby on the Starz horror-comedy series Ash vs Evil Dead (2015–2018). Evelyn Renée O'Connor (born February 15th, 1971) is an American actress, producer, and director who also has extensive industry experience beyond her Xena role.

Eva Air BR216 B777-300ER Business Class Singapore to Taipei
Follow us to take the Eva Air BR216 B777-300ER Business Class Singapore to Taipei.
Beginning of the video share with you where is the best door to alight and check-in counter, the flight that you able to redeem from the miles redemption. Then follow us to explore the SilverKris Lounge at T3 Changi Airport and straight to boarding.
The Business class seat is very spacious and comfortable with the herringbone seating arrangement, you cant really get eye contact with other passengers in the cabin. The cabin crews are very professional and speak good English on the announcement and taking meal order, I have no problem to communicate with them with my bad hearing :p
I enjoy the meal very much, it was delicious and I did ask for second meal but did not show in the video ( I think the portion is a little bit too small or maybe I'm just hungry )
Overall the flight experience was great, I'd love to take Eva air again (^__^) Just hope that they will offer better flight timing in the future and earlier flight for redemption.
Do check out our IG stories on the TPE 2019 album to view more photos of the flight.

Philip Ziegler - Militant Grace
Source:
Episode: Philip Ziegler joins Erin Heim to discuss apocalyptic theology, Pauline literature, and the implications of both for Christian discipleship. They discuss Ziegler's new book, Militant Grace, which constitutes a serious theological engagement and response to the apocalyptic turn in Pauline studies. Along the way, Professor Ziegler shares with us the influence friends and mentors like J. Louis Martyn have had on him both personally and professionally.
Guest (from the University of Aberdeen): Philip Ziegler holds a doctorate from the University of Toronto / Victoria University, where he studied systematic and historical theology, ecumenics and the philosophy of religion at several member colleges of the Toronto School of Theology. He was ordained to the Order of Ministry of the United Church of Canada in 1996. During 2000/1 he was a Junior Fellow of Massey College in the University of Toronto. After holding a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Princeton University's Center for the Study of Religion, he taught at the Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Canada as Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology. Philip joined the faculty of the University of Aberdeen as Lecturer in Systematic Theology in January 2006. In 2016 he was appointed to a personal Chair in Christian Dogmatics. He is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
Book: Militant Grace (Baker, 2018) (from the publisher's website):This clear and comprehensive introduction to apocalyptic theology demonstrates the significance of apocalyptic readings of the New Testament for systematic theology and highlights the ethical implications of the apocalyptic turn in biblical and theological studies. Written by a leading theologian and proponent of apocalyptic theology, this primer explores the impact of important recent Pauline scholarship on contemporary theology and argues for a renewed understanding of key Christian doctrines, including sin, grace, revelation, redemption, and the Christian life.
