So we aren't in Canada no more! This weekend we actually escaped to Las Vegas so we are going to be spending three days just enjoying winter in the desert and doing cool stuff. And today we're walking down the strip and we're going to show you some of the sights. And the best part - no winter parka right now.
Enough walking for a while. I'm starving. Let's get some dinner. We're going to Shake Shack.
Tell, me. Tell, me! You know what? Nobody does fast food like Americans. They've got it down to a science. It's absolutely unhealthy but so delicious.
We're going to head back to the hotel and get ready for a show. We're going to be seeing the Michael Jackson Show at the Mandalay Bay but unfortunately we can't bring any cameras in there so we won' t be able to show you that but maybe after the show we'll hit the town again and show you the sights. Not maybe! Definitely!
It is so sad to be leaving but it is our last night in Las Vegas so we're going to go out and try and see as much as we can this evening. Let's go wild. Let's gamble.
It is never ending. The lights. The noise. The ding ding ding ding. This is what a casino sounds like twenty-four seven. We see people gambling here at like five in the morning when we get up for breakfast.
What would a trip to Vegas be like without a little gambling? Sam, even looks like an old gambler today with that hat. Oh, I do. Guess what? We're such cheapskates we're playing with pennies. We're going to the penny machine. They don't even have pennies in Canada anymore, so let's use these American pennies up.
Shiver me timbers. I'm playing a pirate game. I'm going to win me some money.
Tell us? Alright, I was a pretty lousy pirate, so I'm going to try my luck with this Owl game. Hoot! Hoot!
Ding ding ding ding ding. Being the supreme cheapskate that I am I'm cutting my loses after two dollars.
So we're here at the Bellagio for the water show. And they have a lot of frequent shows in the evening so we're just waiting for it to start.
So we are now at the Cosmopolitan and we are visiting one of the coolest bars in all of Las Vegas. This behind me is the Chandelier.

Las Vegas (/lɑːs ˈveɪɡəs/,[6] Spanish for The Meadows; Spanish: [laz ˈβeɣas]), officially the City of Las Vegas and often known simply as Vegas, is the 28th-most populated city in the United States, the most populated city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. The city anchors the Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area and is the largest city within the greater Mojave Desert.
Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city, known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. The Las Vegas Valley as a whole serves as the leading financial, commercial, and cultural center for Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated activities. It is a top three destination in the United States for business conventions and a global leader in the hospitality industry, claiming more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world.
Today, Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations.
The city's tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos.
Las Vegas was settled in 1905 and officially incorporated in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, it was the most populated American city founded within that century (a similar distinction earned by Chicago in the 1800s). Population growth has accelerated since the 1960s, and between 1990 and 2000 the population nearly doubled, increasing by 85.2%. Rapid growth has continued into the 21st century, and according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had 648,224 residents in 2018, with a metropolitan population of 2,227,053.
As with most major metropolitan areas, the name of the primary city (Las Vegas in this case) is often used to describe areas beyond official city limits. In the case of Las Vegas, this especially applies to the areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip, which is actually located within the unincorporated communities of Paradise and Winchester.[14][15]
Travel reminds those paying attention that they are not the only man in the world, that this is a huge world and that they are only a small, insignificant human in it. This is quite a leisure experience – to go to another country or another state and see large numbers of peoples living differently, and coming to understand how large the world actually is. When people who learn return home, they keep with them this perspective for the rest of their life and they benefit from this is knowledge and perspective.
Another benefit to traveling is coming to see one’s native country in a different light, in a different way. This is done through being able to compare and contrast home from a foreign location, done most always through traveling. A new perspective may be formed

VIVA LAS VEGAS!
Viva Las Vegas baby! After weeks on end of cold harsh weather in Canada, we had the opportunity to escape to Las Vegas for the weekend. Trading in our parkas for t-shirts was a welcome change. The glitz, the sights and the sounds of the city quickly had us mesmerized. We spent the majority of our first day in Las Vegas, Nevada familiarizing ourselves with The Strip walking along snapping photos and video of the various architecture, hotels, casinos and fascinating shops. In particular, we made stops at Hershey's Chocolate Store and the Mandarin Oriental Palace Hotel. From Castles to the Eiffel Tower our senses were overloaded from the minute we arrived. Even the airport has dinging slot machines! The following travel video is our first impressions in Las Vegas featuring things to do and attractions worth checking out.

Viva Las Vegas! First day in Sin City Transcript:
So we aren't in Canada no more! This weekend we actually escaped to Las Vegas so we are going to be spending three days just enjoying winter in the desert and doing cool stuff. And today we're walking down the strip and we're going to show you some of the sights. And the best part - no winter parka right now.
Enough walking for a while. I'm starving. Let's get some dinner. We're going to Shake Shack.
So when this buzzer goes it's time for me to get my food.
It's ready. It's ready. Go get it!
There is the man bringing food. Ooh la lah. I'm on a total health kick today. We've got a double burger, cheese fries, peanut butter shake and a root beer float.
When in Vegas.
I think I found my new favorite burger here at the Shake Shack.
They just do their patties to perfection over here.
Tell, me. Tell, me! You know what? Nobody does fast food like Americans. They've got it down to a science. It's absolutely unhealthy but so delicious.
Argh.
We just found a jelly bean Statue of Liberty and I'm going to dare Sam five bucks to lick it.
Do it, do it. It's filthy. Don't!
This is like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. This is a very volatile situation. I'm walking into a Hershey's candy store. Ooh la lah. I hope they have free samples.
I think I'm about to create my own chocolate bar. Ooh.
Let's go white chocolate.
I don't know how this works actually.
Oh, smile big!
Ow!
Retake. Retake.
Looks good!
What did you find there?
Two and a half pounds of peanut butter and chocolate. And these are only two cups if you can imagine. One here, one there.
So what did you find? I found the largest Hershey chocolate bar in the world. Really?
We're going to head back to the hotel and get ready for a show. We're going to be seeing the Michael Jackson Show at the Mandalay Bay but unfortunately we can't bring any cameras in there so we won' t be able to show you that but maybe after the show we'll hit the town again and show you the sights. The Oasis Hotel. Las Vegas Nevada.
I'm really impressed with my room at the #Oasis at the #Goldspike #hotel. It's got a certain mid century modern retro glam to it. Definitely an awesome off the strip experience for singles and couples particularly those who want to balance gambling and luxury with the Downtown Project experience created by Tony Hsieh. #DTP. #LasVegas.
This video shows a freaking record player with an earth wind and fire album. Works! You can probably hear the nonstop music by the pool in the background too.

Test Driving Electric Cars In Las Vegas with Guy Branum | The New American Road Trip (Episode 2)
The journey continues with comedian JC Coccoli leading the ‘The New American Road Trip’ to one of the most power hungry cities in the United States. And no we’re not talking about Washington D.C., but the city of lights, sin, and some of the best entertainment in the nation, Las Vegas.
This week she is joined by her comedian friend Guy Branum for a comedy pit stop in a place that should be a desert, but instead is the go to place to see a Cirque du Soleil show. Guy takes us on a test drive of an electric car and reminds us that the city of sin is less than sinful when it comes to utilizing clean energy.

Las Vegas Fremont Street Experience Hotels and Casinos Light Shows Glitter Gulch Neon Mall at Night
Las Vegas Fremont Street Experience with Hotels and Casinos Light Shows Glitter Gulch Neon Mall at Night - - Wikipedia has a good article on this very popular Las Vegas location -- The Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is a pedestrian mall and attraction in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The FSE occupies the westernmost 5 blocks of Fremont Street, including the area known for years as Glitter Gulch, and portions of some other adjacent streets. The attraction is a barrel vault canopy, 90 ft (27 m) high at the peak and four blocks, or approximately 1,500 ft (460 m), in length. While Las Vegas is known for never turning the outside casino lights off, each show begins by turning off the lights on all of the buildings, including the casinos, under the canopy. Before each show, one bidirectional street that crosses the Experience is blocked off for safety reasons. Concerts, usually free, are also held on two sound stages. The venue has become a major tourist attraction for downtown Las Vegas, and is also the location of the Neon Museum at the Fremont Street Experience and the city's annual New Year's Eve party, complete with fireworks on the display screen. The LVH -- Las Vegas Hotel and Casino (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton) is a hotel, casino, and convention center in Paradise, Nevada, owned by Goldman Sachs and Gramercy Capital, and operated by the Navegante Group.[1] It has 2,956 hotel rooms and 305 suites. Located on 64 acres (26 ha), it has a 74,000 square feet (6,900 m2) casino and is also home to the largest sports book in Las Vegas. The hotel left Hilton at the end of 2011 and was renamed as the LVH on January 3, 2012.[2] Like its sister property, ACH Casino Resort, it took on its initials as its new name. On February 4, 2013 it was announced that LVH would be affiliating with Red Lion Hotels.[3]
The hotel is located next to the Las Vegas Convention Center and has its own 200,000 sq ft (19,000 m2) convention center, and a Las Vegas Monorail station.
During the summer of 2006, Reba McEntire signed an exclusive engagement performing at the Las Vegas Hilton titled REBA: Key to the Heart. Over five non-consecutive weeks, she performed for the fans traveling to see her for the first time in her career.[10]
Barry Manilow performed his Ultimate Manilow: the Hits show at the Las Vegas Hilton. As part of the contract, Manilow occupied one of the three sky villas which are three very large penthouse suites that were built in 1994 replacing the original penthouse (room 3000), Elvis's home for 8 years. In February 2007, the Hilton painted Las Vegas' largest mural on the side of the hotel of Barry Manilow.[11]
Las Vegas /lɑːs ˈveɪɡəs/ is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada and the county seat of Clark County.[5] Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada. The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its consolidated casino--hotels and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 31st-most populous city in the United States, with a population at the 2010 census of 583,756. The 2010 population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area was 1,951,269.[4] Today, Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.[6]
Established in 1905, Las Vegas was incorporated as a city in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in that century (a distinction held by Chicago in the 19th century). The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. There are numerous outdoor lighting displays on Fremont Street, as well as elsewhere in the city.
Las Vegas often refers to the city plus some areas beyond the city limits, especially the resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip, and sometimes the entire Las Vegas Valley. The 4.2 mi (6.8 km) stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard known as the Strip is mainly in the unincorporated communities of Paradise
