The Singapore Turf Club (STC) was founded in 1842 as the Singapore Sporting Club. It is the oldest existing and only horse racing club in Singapore. The first race was held on February 23, 1843 when the prize money on offer was only $150. In 1924, the Club changed its name to the Singapore Turf Club in an effort to reflect its role as a horse racing club more accurately. The Club then moved to Bukit Timah in 1933 before relocating to its present location at the Singapore Racecourse at Kranji in 1999.
It is now one of the premier racecourses in the world that not only provides world-class quality horse racing while maintaining the highest level of integrity in wagering, but also an efficient, effective and socially responsible organisation.

Horses play a big part in Mr Troy See's life. The pint-sized apprentice jockey rides racehorses around the Singapore Turf Club track for their daily workouts and races them on race days.
The 25-year-old first rode a horse five years ago in the Turf Club's paddock, about a week after he started working as a syce or stable attendant.
He said he had felt very nervous and afraid, yet excited.
After getting to know these horses, I realised they are actually gentle and kind animals.
Race horses are like kids. They bring you joy most of the time... but they can frustrate you too. Like when I expect them to run a race well and they disappoint me in the end.

Singapore Turf Club - Horse Racing
I've been to the race club twice before on events. Fashion and the races and the SIA Cup and since I was given some vouchers by the Turf Club, I wanted to bring my parents there to take a look and soak in the atmosphere for themselves!
It was the first time my parents have been to the turf club and they were amazed at the facilities they have. We spent the first few races at the Hibiscus Room, enjoying our dinner as we watch the horses sprint by us below.
