Concerned Artists of the Philippines launch Artista ng Bayan exhibit at Gateway, Cubao
The Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP), an organization co-founded by activist filmmaker Lino Brocka in 1983, recently opened Artista ng Bayan at the Sining Kamalig gallery of Gateway Mall, Cubao, Quezon City. The exhibit opening also coincides with the launch of the 2011-2012 Artista ng Bayan calendar. Mga natutunan ng mga baguhang trainee ng His Art Gallery, ipinamalas
Nagpakita ng kanya kanyang talento sa pagsayaw, pagkanta at pag-rampa ang mga baguhang kabataan sa ginanap na Part 3 Recital ng His Art Gallery sa SM Megacenter, na dinaluhan ng higit dalawang daang katao.
Kabilang sina Charles Andrew Cruz at Bea S. Abustan na estudyante ng His Art Gallery na nagbahagi ng kanilang mga natutunan.
Sa panayam kay Catherine Commandante Sangil, Founder at Presidente ng His Art Gallery, sinabi nitong ensayo at pagdidisiplina ang kanilang ginagawa sa paghahanda.
Dagdag pa nito, mahirap matutunan ang isang partikular na bagay kung hindi ito paglalaanan ng pagmamahal .
Achievement aniyang maituturing kapag ang isang bata ay nahiyakat na tumuntong sa entablado dahil hindi lahat ay kaya itong gawin.
Mensahe nito, na balewala ang mga ginagawa natin kung wala ang Panginoon sa ating buhay at bilang pasasalamat ay ibinabalik aniya ang lahat ng papuri at pasasalamat sa Panginoon.
Ang summer class ng His Art Gallery ay inaaabot ng dalawang buwan tuwing Abril hanggang Mayo.
Nagkakahalaga ng tatlong libo ang ensayo na na-unlimited session na. Bukod dito ay nagbibigay din ng Scholarship ang His Art Gallery sa piling mga bata.
Layunin nito na hubugin ang talento ng mga kabataan, maging produktibo at magkaroon ng lakas ng loob upang masanay sa harap ng maraming tao.-Ulat ni Getz Rufo Alvaran.

Gateway's One and Only Painting
The only painting mounted on the lobby of Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City is the work of Justin Toti Nuyda. Here he is seen posing beside his work, along with Liongoren Gallery's Norma Liongoren and Melba. I am not in the picture. We detoured from the Sining Kamalig Gallery opening, carrying our glasses of red wine.

The #ARTrueStory Campaign
(Created by DLSU Students for World Experience and Sining Kamalig)
The campaign raises awareness for the art gallery - Sining Kamalig - which showcases art from a diverse set of artists for a cause (i.e. cancer awareness, mental disabilities, etc). #ARTrueStory, as the name implies, focuses on the artists’ and their stories such as why they do what they do and how they express themselves through their artworks. Some of their works are put up for art auctions in which the proceeds go to a special cause. More than just the artworks representing a cause, each painting illustrates who the artist is and endeavors to inspire people to express their story no matter what society labels them as.
Walang Kalabaw sa Cubao - Ericson Acosta
The poem Walang Kalabaw sa Cubao by Filipino artist and political prisoner Ericson Acosta was first published in a literary folio of the Philippine Collegian, the official student publication of the University of the Philippines where Acosta served as editor during the 90's.
This audio recording by Ericson Acosta is from the CD compilation Uniberso: New Pinoy Poets Calling produced by poet Mayo Uno Martin. The video which features the painting People Power: Then and Now by political prisoner Alan Jazmines displayed at the Sining Kamalig Gallery at the Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City was shot for the cultural presentation POLDET (Political Detainee) staged by the PinoyMedia Center and the Free Ericson Acosta Campaign in December 2011. Ericson Acosta is currently detained at the Calbayog sub-provincial jail in Samar on false charges of illegal possession of explosives.
