Given access to an upper mezzanine, above the tops of the pipe organ, St Willisbroad Kirk is an explosion of colour and sacred feeling. Done in an unusually colourful, gothic style, from The Utrecht School of the Gothic Revival. Imagine, Van Gogh and Versace got together and decorated a gothic cathedral. Truly wonderful. My favourite human created cathedral, second only to La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona.
Netherlands: Utrecht - The Saint Willibrordchurch
The Saint Willibrord Church is a Roman Catholic church in Utrecht in the Netherlands. It is located on the Minrebroerstraat and was built between 1875 and 1891 in Neo-Gothic style. The church is the property of Sint Willibrordus Stichting, a foundation founded by Father Winand Kotte A.A. Founded. Since 1976, the church has been a Rijksmonument, a protected monument. [1]
While most Neo-Gothic monuments were gutted in the sixties and seventies of their rich inventory, converted or degraded, the interior of St Willibrord Church remained almost intact preserved. Initially she was - in especially the turbulent 60s for the Catholic Church - to be demolished. Laymen and believers Father Drs. Winand Kotte, A.A. managed by purchase to preserve the church in the traditional state. Therefore she is now one of the best and most impressive evidence of the Utrecht school within the Gothic Revival. A major restoration took place from 1991 to 2005.

Sint Willibrord houdt concerten om renovatie te bekostigen.
UTRECHT - De door houtrot getroffen Sint Willibrordkerk in Utrecht gaat concerten houden om geld op te halen voor een grondige renovatie.
Met name de spitse toren is er slecht aan toe. Houtrot heeft de constructie aangetast.
Als er niet snel iets gebeurt, dreigt de toren in te storten.
Om de opknapbeurt te bekostigen, is 50.000 euro nodig. Een deel daarvan is al binnen dankzij subsidies en giften, maar de kerk komt nog zo'n 15.000 euro tekort.
Om het resterende bedrag bij elkaar te halen, worden op 1 en 2 juni 2013 de hele dag concerten gehouden. Onder andere het Utrechts Studenten Philharmonisch Orkest 'Muse Art' treedt op. Ook zijn er rondleidingen waarvoor mensen een bijdrage kunnen doneren.
Dit gehele programma wordt georganiseerd door de Stichting Culturele evenementen St Willibrordkerk.

Interieur Rooms-katholieke Sint-Willibrordkerk Utrecht
Hier het interieur van de Sint-Willibrordkerk te Utrecht.
Na de Tridentijnse Mis besloot ik om even de tijd te nemen het fraaie interieur te filmen.
Deze kerk werd ontworpen door Alfred Tepe en werd gebouwd tussen 1875 en 1877, maar tot 1891 werd door Schaepman nog gewerkt aan het interieur.
In de 1967 redde Pater Winand Kotte de neogotische kerk van de sloop en kocht hem in 1986.
Sinds 2016 wordt deze kerk weer voor de katholieke liturgie gebruikt.
Hoop dat je het interieur van de kerk ook mooi vindt.

You can visit The Heilige Geest Hofje daily between 09.00 and 16.00 hour, when you are lucky the church is open.
