What is the best Muay Thai gym in Thailand?
What Muay Thai camp should I train at in Thailand?
These are the most common questions I get when it comes to traveling, training and fighting in Thailand. Since it's such a common question -- and since it's not an easy answer -- I decided to make this video breaking down the 5 key factors to consider when choosing which gym to train at in Thailand.
=======================================
5 Key Factors When Choosing A Muay Thai Gym In Thailand
#1. The Location ????
Want hardcore training in the mecca of Muay Thai? Try Bangkok.
Enjoy the beaches and some down time? Phuket might be best.
Like a blend of city and mountains? Then try Chiang Mai!
There are also other places to try like Pattaya, Isaan, Koh Samui, Pai, Hua Hin and others.
#2. The Trainers ????
You travel all the way to Thailand to get the best training possible. And to get the best training possible, you need the best TRAINERS!

How To Recognize A Good (Or Bad) Muay Thai Coach
#3. Training Partners ????
Iron sharpens iron. You need to be surrounded by motivated, passionate individuals if you want to get the most out of your training.
#4. The Atmosphere ????
Every gym has a different vibe to it. Some are super intense and serious, others are more laid back and relaxed. Understanding your goals and what you need to improve and enjoy your experience in Thailand is important to know when considering which gym to choose.
#5. The Facilities ????
Do you want a nice looking gym that has state-of-the-art facilities? Or would you appreciate the bare necessities and the rugged feel to some more old school gyms?
Does the gym offer other classes like MMA, yoga or strength and conditioning? Do they have on-site accommodation, a pool, a restaurant and other services? These are all things to consider!

????????How To Book Your Muay Thai Training Experience ????????
There are a few different options to booking your Muay Thai experience in Thailand:
Uptrek ( -- This travel company offers a huge category of different training camp experiences in Thailand, plus they are very convenient, easy-to-use and customer friendly.
Thailand Training Camps ( -- I host Muay Thai camps all around Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Phangan). These experiences are very group-oriented where we go to fight nights together, explore nearby attractions, attend team BBQ's and much more.
Book Directly With The Gym -- Contact the gym you're interested in attending to sort out the finer details directly with them!

3 weeks training at Santai Muay Thai, Chiang Mai, Thailand
Last month I spent 3 weeks training Muay Thai at Santai gym in Northern Thailand. The final week my wife joined me for some training as well (it was partially given to us as a wedding gift). She is a total Muay Thai novice, I have done some classes years ago but still pretty basic level too (have been focussing on triathlons/ironmans for the last 7 years..).
We absolutely loved it. Santai is a fantastic gym which caters for all levels, from beginners all the way through to world champs. The trainers are all ex top level fighters. The students are good mix of foreign & local fighters. Training was twice a day, 6-8am and 16-18h30. Sessions aren't mandatory for non pro fighters, we ended up doing 8-9 sessions a week. Hopefully you ll enjoy this little video and gives a good picture of what its like to train in Thailand..?
