STUDY QUEENSLAND VLOG 5: WEEKEND GETAWAY // CAIRNS
Hey Guys!!!! Last weekend, we went to the beautiful and sunny Cairns! ☼ We finally got to see our Cairns besties after a month and it's really good to finally see An, Luca, Jocelyn, Shimon, and my fellow Pinoy, Tiff! ????????
This weekend was filled with so much fun because being reunited with all the besties just makes me feel so happy -- there's always such a positive energy going around between all of us. We went snorkeling, not to mention it was my first time! Seeing the Great Barrier Reef has been SO amazing and I really won't trade it in for any other experience.

We went on 2 snorkeling trips while in Cairns. This one is the first trip with SeaStar. Originally, we were booked for a half day tour with Skedaddle but that got cancelled and we were able to get a complimentary upgrade to the full day tour with SeaStar. We had to adjust our schedule a bit but made it work. I'm glad to say I was able to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef.
SeaStar was nice because our group was small. We were able to walk around and sit either upstairs or downstairs. There also was an area in the front where you could sit outside during the boat ride or while anchored at the reefs. We visited 2 sites. Michaelmas/Upolu Reef area (morning) and Hastings Reef (afternoon). We had about 2 hours in each area which I think was more than enough. We only snorkeled about 1 hour in each location then sunbathed/rested the other hour. Some people did get a little seasick. I get motion sickness if I try to read in the car or if the water is really choppy but I was ok on this boat ride. The staff was really nice and super attentive. It did feel more like a family operation. There was about 6-7 staff to 15 people. Thankfully, the weather was sunny, and warm. It was cold in the other areas of Australia we went prior to Queensland so it was a huge relief to be in warm weather. After you snorkel, it does feel a bit chilly with the wind and just getting out from the water so I recommend you taking a t-shirt or a long sleeve for the evening. You need to take your own towel (this is the case for all of these snorkel tours).

Take a tour of Skedaddle's inaugural tour of Chile (circa 1994)
Chile really was where it all began, the destination where our co-founders, Paul and Andrew, conjured up a crazy idea to get as many people as possible to enjoy travelling by bike. Fast forward 25 years and here we are, offering a whopping 260 holidays across the globe (and counting). The rest, as they say, is history...Discover more about us and the journey we've been on since those intrepid early days by heading to our website:
