Skeena
The Skeena River is the second longest river entirely within British Columbia, Canada] (after the Fraser River). The Skeena is an important transportation artery, particularly for the Tsimshian and the Gitxsan—whose names mean inside the Skeena River and people of the Skeena River respectively, and also during the Omineca Gold Rush when steamboat services ran from the sea to Hazelton, which was the jumping-off point for the trails to the goldfields. The river and its basin sustain a wide variety of fish, wildlife, vegetation and communities native to the area depend on the health of the river.

Oolican is a small fish that spawns in the large rivers of the North coast of B.C. Natives have been using that small oily fish to make a grease (oil) for immemorial times. A very important food source condiment and trade item amongts the native on the coast and the interior. Normand is on the Skeena river East of Prince Rupert and where the oolicans are found at this time. Spawning by the millions.
In other parts of the river, birds :gulls (by the thousands) and eagles are feasting on the small fish.

A very nice and easy hike. It was worth it since the sky was blue and the air was crispy cold, but not too much. The ocean and forest smell was overwhelming and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. Got some nice pictures to show up for.
